Wood is going to get pissed off if he's not traded for 4 1st rounders. He will diss his new team on being casuals and offering less than what he's worth.
He should look in the mirror and ask himself why multiple teams have dumped him already despite him being really talented.
That's the best possible outcome. MJ didn't like Wood before. He used to yell at him to lift weights. I do think he might want his scoring though.
I proposed giving them less in the EG trade thread, but I'd happily give 2 future firsts (not this upcoming draft) EG and Wood for De'Aaron Fox and Alex Len so Sengun could start and we could target one of the bigs in the draft. We'd have Fox for 5 years and the fastest backcourt in the league.
Any way to get a lottery pick this coming year for him? Would any of the marginal limbo teams bite on Wood for a pick in the 10-15 range?
I think the best we can hope for is a first round pick swap and a mid to late FRP. So maybe 1.5 picks?
Boston probably would be your best bet. They have an expiring contract (Richardson) that will work in exchange for Wood and owns their own pick in the 2022 draft. If they put in a top 10 protection on the pick we should be able to get a pick in the teens if they continue to maintain their 10th seed.
There's rumors of Sac wanting to build around Fox so maybe we can trade Wood to them in exchange for Haliburton. I'd be ok giving Wood and the other pick we have next season (bless Stone man) for Haliburton so we can have a real playmaking guard. Check out Haliburton's stats when Fox is out and he is allowed to run the show the kid is a beast.
CW as you call him! Will not be traded away, he is a valuable part of out team, which we are rebuilding.. I do not expect him not to expect too much money in his contract renewal . I expect him to com eto an understanding his performance is not of top player, and is not worth the big money which he was anticipating earlier on in last season. Y
Late 1st rounder Or A young talent (like PJ Washington level) plus a 2nd rounder. Charlotte looks like about the only team in the league that would maybe think about adding Wood (whose impact at PF is poor, but at C is decent). They owe this years pick to Atlanta, so couldn't trade a 1st next year, they could offer a swap? Put them into a swap with BKN pick? I see us keeping Wood and moving him in the off-season. See who we get in the draft and adjust accordingly - I think we can move him for a 2nd and marginal talent then.
The hard part of trading him is you’re limited to only the dumb teams, as a smart team won’t give up much of anything for him
What do people think of league's view on KPJ, he's on a cheap contract. If Wood's value is lower than last year, can Rockets attach KPJ in a Wood package to sweeten the pot and get a better return.
Been Watching Fox hoop since he was a youngin, he definitely has an alpha demeanor and is an athletic freak
I think that would be a big mistake. This season is a big loss. We’ve got to salvage it by coming out of it with a clear direction. Playing out the rest of the season with Wood, only to get less for him in the offseason makes no sense to me. At least if we trade at the deadline we are clearing out more minutes to develop Sengun while continuing to acquire key assets to either develop or make a big move for a young franchise chip later.
I hear you - but not sure it is the only option. Sengun can only stay on the floor 20 minutes at the moment anyway, so no big deal keeping Wood if the best option is a 2RP... ** if we were able to swing for John Collins in a bigger deal somehow, or get a PJ Washington + 2RP as a straight up, great, let's go** If we can't get a piece to play alongside Sengun as a protector type, then keeping Wood might make sense. Getting a top 3 pick gives us a bona-fide replacement who could play alongside Alpie, and teams are often more inclined to set a new direction after playoff failure - perhaps more suitors for Wood. Perhaps I just don't see much of a market for Wood? The return would be insignificant, and even freeing up time for Sengun to foul out fast doesn't seem to make sense... why make more minutes for Theiss - how does that help Green et al develop?
I genuinely can't think of a trade I'd want more. Fox/Green/KPJ/Martin/Sengun for this year and just push the tempo. We'd still lose tons and get a top pick to target a defensive big to play with Sengun going forward. I'd definitely rather have Fox than Simmons, Washington or Turner tbh.
