This a million times this - at the end, play calling is a game - and if you are smarter than your opposing coach, you can win when talent is equal - UT has not had that, and I thought Sark might be the guy - but his playcalling is great in the first half, but then he tries to run nothing new as the game progresses, it is like 10-20 plays total - you need to be much more creative than that, defenses get used to looks....for instance, we run that bubble screen a lot, when have we seen the outside receiver slip his block and go up the sideline.....on a fake bubble screen that results in a wide open man running free down the sideline? We don't have counters to our plays it seems, so we get predictable. DD
Not sure if this is the Big 12 sticking it to UT but this is a big reason why tv ratings for the conference are complete $hit.
TV networks pick the timeslots. Heard it explained in the Austin paper thusly: UT is not very good Networks feel the 2:30 slot gets crowded with the better non-primetime games UT gets good ratings no matter when they play
That makes sense. If UT draws well at both 11AM and 2PM you might as well stick em in the poop spot where most other programs wouldn't draw flies.
Seems like that would be part of the negotiations with the networks. Maybe it’ll all even out the back half of the season but five 11 am starts in a row is a bit ridiculous. Even if ratings are still good, we’re still talking about half of the country barely waking up.
Also the OU game is always early mostly for fan control (ie limiting rowdy drunks and fights) Oh it's ridiculous for sure. Equally ridiculous is how close (horseshoes/hand grenades I know) UT is to being a 1-loss team ranked in the top-10. That would solve your scheduling problems right there. I try not to think about it.
@DaDakota too scared to honor his bet on Saturday's game. Big talk. But no Sam Cassell balls to back it up. @tinman - $99? Sic Em'.
I'll predict a win against Baylor I'll be bold. O-line gets it together in the 2nd half, running game will go wild

I feel comfortable saying this without hyperbole: Texas is the worst 2nd half team in the history of organized football
