Bey is the player that wasn’t. I looked forward to seeing to him play and make our team. Why did we keep Nix a thick point guard that can’t shoot.
Should have dumped Lamb and NOT signed Exum , I'd rather have another project big or project wing than another guard , particularly one who's a known mid tier entity. I can't see Exum getting many minutes here with KPJ getting the lions share of the minutes as the point - Tate should get some time as the initiator as well .... and then there's Josh Christopher and Augustin behind him.
The most important thing here is that Exum's contract will be moveable at its maximum value. We are only on the hook for the minimum, but we can trade him for the maximum value of his contract (all of the incentives built into the contract). Hopefully, this actually comes into play.
-3 years, $15M -Year 1: $2.5M base non-guaranteed -Year 2: $2.3M base non-guaranteed; ? trigger date -Year 3: $2.1M base non-guaranteed; June 30th trigger date -Contract from a cap standpoint, Exum has $1M in bonuses for $15.8M considered likely (did he mean 15.8 minutes?) -$1.5M in bonuses for 15.8 minutes and net rating of 2.7 -So when you add $2.5M + base gets you a $5M cap hit -Only the contract that is guaranteed counts as a tradeable asset -From the guaranteed salary and the bonuses, that’s what counts as guaranteed -Contract doesn’t become guaranteed (until?) January 7 -Exum has a December 15 trigger date as far as when he can be traded -Say the Rockets want to trade him on December 15, likely bonuses and guaranteed amount (right around $800K) would be used in salary outgoing. That’s $3.3M in tradeable contract. Once January 7 passes, for salary standpoint, $5M. That’s how the league looked at it. Contract is approved. Bonuses are considered likely. -TBD for year 2, year 3 just based on we don’t know if he’ll hit these bonuses this year. If healthy, he’ll hit the bonuses -$2.5M base, $2.5M in likely bonuses; For trade purposes, right around $3.3M starting December 15. Goes up like $15K each day. Once January 7th goes by, it’s the full amount. Contract is approved. -No bonuses that will be restructured like we saw with Nene or considered unlikely.
That contract and all those conditions in fineprints. Ways for owner to not pay Exum too much. Spoiler: contract details Stone's face when he added the currency for the $15m in Australian Dollar instead of USD.
Lulz, Exum only played 6 games last year. Using per game averages for likely bonuses on such small sample size is BS. Any and every stat should be unlikely, based upon not logging enough minutes the year before for anything to qualify, imvso
Dante Exum‘s new three-year deal with the Rockets is even more complicated than initially reported. Exum’s base salaries increase by 8% annually ($2.5MM, $2.7MM, and $2.9MM), while his likely bonuses decrease by 8% per year ($2.5MM, $2.3MM, and $2.1MM). Exum also has some unlikely incentives which increase by 8% annually ($375K, $405K, and $435K). In total, his three-year deal could be worth as much as $16.215MM, but only his first-year base salary ($2.5MM) is guaranteed. https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2021/09/contract-details-pangos-exum-heat-robinson.html
Why waste the energy? Exum is a NBA zero who’s always injured. This is the first idiotic move by Stone. It’s really dumb.
don’t understand why the Rockets are even bothering with this dude seems like a waste of time All this extra with his contract for what? He sucks
He looked pretty good from what I saw of him in the Olympics. Looked quick and hounded Doncic in that medal game.
He’s a young vet who has experience being the hyped up prospect, and has dealt with adversity. I’ve yet to see any accounts that would imply he’s a bad teammate, and with a team this young, there’s value to someone who is “relatable” like that. As BimaThug showed, if he’s totally washed (injuries or otherwise), it’s a very limited financial commitment. He provides additional trade asset flexibility, has a fairly unique skill set as a big playmaker with defensive traits, and given his age/pedigree/Olympics performance, it wouldn’t shock me if there’s performance upside. Think back to when the Rockets gave up a first for Iman Shumpert and salary flexibility — it wouldn’t shock me if Exum plays himself into rotational player / positive trade asset.
