John Wall is about to be the most expensive bench coach in the history of sports.

    I know.

My point is Wall has the worst contract in the league.
To take that, teams will ask HIGH. Remember it is not an expiring contract.

Not saying KPJ will actually be gone... But to me the only scenario we trade ONLY ONE extra player, that player is named KPJ.

Here is to me praying we have plenty of multi-teams trades, because that's the only way we keep him.

Key takeaway is that there is MUTUAL agreement to find a trade.

To translate: there is no way known the Rockets give up assets to move him, so Walls team needs to figure out how to move him.

Since he won't be playing here, either we get something back for him OR he agrees to a buyout later in the season.

If this seafood platter was stacked like this:

It would stretch 2,278 miles. That distance is a little further than driving from Toyota Center to Edmonton in Alberta Canada. Nothing but seafood the entire way.

Can't wait to see what the corresponding picture is when you actually include Sengun in the lineup

sounds like its going down the right way...

Sources said Wall's relationship with Rockets ownership and management remains strong, as Wall and the Rockets have been in frequent communication throughout the offseason. High-ranking Rockets sources expressed deep appreciation for Wall's leadership throughout a tumultuous campaign last season, when James Harden's trade demand pushed Houston into rebuilding mode and a rash of injuries factored into the Rockets finishing with the NBA's worst record.

"He's been a rock for us," a Rockets source said. "He's been great since he got here."

One of the most overrated / paid players of all time.

On the Abdur Rahim, Francis, Marbury level.

Play Wall until he builds up some real value or try and negotiate a buyout.

Should we have kept Russ for another year. Wizard got a decent amount sending him to the Lakers. We're stuck here with Wall. Between Wall v. Russ, as of right now, we seemed worse off from the trade.

Sure Russ wasn't reporting to camp, so front office's hands were tied. But how did it get to that point. Was it more Russ being a diva or the locker room culture and lack of covid rules really ticked him off.

CP3 left, then his value went up.
Russ left, Wizard got more for his value.
After Wall leaves is that future team going to get more...

Maybe this was discussed before the draft, but I had really hoped this would have been taken care of before the draft. I was on record for wanting Green, Sengun, and Garuba, but wanted to use 24th pick plus a future late FRP to get back some team friendly contracts. Maybe Wall wasn't willingly to do "X,Y, Z" before the draft but sees the landscape differently.

I'm just not sure of the suitors, this seems more like we are putting this out for the trade deadline.

Why can’t they agree with potential trade partner to pay half his salary or something preventing giving up assets? Not sure how these deals work. I’ve never seen this stipulation in these deals except a team putting in a small amount of cash. Rockets doesn’t have much leverage dealing Wall.

We keep Russ and we may not get the #2 pick. John Wall is probably a necessary evil if you are in the "rebuild with high draft picks camp", but it will take all of Stone's cunning to get a decent deal this season.

At least it is not messy. Trade him to a contender that could genuinely help them at PG position like Clippers where we do not have to give up lottery picks.

With Russ we don't sniff Green, and we got the first rounder that turned into Sengun. Now, we'll see what comes when Wall leaves.

If Wall is willing to be a bench mentor for the young guys, I'd say keep him unless some team is offering something we can't refuse.

The last thing I want is giving up assets just for the sake of getting rid of him. What worried me before today was that Wall would not agree to be benched for the development of the young players and became a disgruntle distraction in the locker room. This is definitely good news.
