This guy (Binkley) gets it: Play-In tournament would be in reach "If": https://www.thedreamshake.com/2021/...e-stats-play-in-game-could-await-nba-playoffs *Points in the Paint decreased: I've said this with the addition of Theis, Sengun, Garuba.......Wood gets to have more energy in reserve since he doesn't have to do so much of the heavy lifting. *3-Point Shooting improves: improved PnR game demands attention from the opponents defense twice as much as last season. Porter, Green, Eric Gordon, Wall (healthier) forces the issue with actual players that can screen (Theis, Sengun, Garuba, Tate, Kenyon). Results in more open looks from our 3-point shooters. For every action there is a reaction. *Improved Fast Break Points: I've said our ability to run is going to kick some ***. Green, Kenyon, Tate (slimmer), Porter jr, Wood, Garuba all make the Rockets a much better fast breaking group. Much of the fast breaks will begin with better rebounding as a result of better 3-point defense as Theis, Wood, Garuba, Sengun require less help shoring up the interior defense. Opponents missed 3's in turn become long rebounds allowing our high flying act in the open court. This should be fun!!!!! Go Rockets!!!!!!!
Lot of people , particularly those who want to trade Wood like to discount that win streak they went on post Harden trade going from 3-11 to 11-11 and then Wood turns his ankle. Bottom line , he put up better numbers last year with John Wall freezing him out and otherwise very little in the way of help than Anthony Davis did with Lebron getting him easy shots. I think most are more concerned about "him wanting the max" than his actual play .... If he continues to drop 21/10 while shooting 37% or better from three .... I'd have no problem paying him "His max" which is something in the neighborhood of $37m in the first year of an extension. He's not eligible for the supermax .... and I think that's what a lot of people think of when they hear max contract. And both John Wall and Eric Gordon come off the books at the same time he'd get that extension.
by going through this article, it somehow occurs to me that, while we speaking of fun to watch, we mean this rockets team now looks young n promising, having all possibilities - they almost got all weapons in the arsenal to go out competing fearlessly, largely thanks to all new additions acquired through last season to this offseason, JG, Al P, Tate, CWood n KPJ, every single one of them can not only play multiple positions, but also got a wide arrange of ways score, knocking down shots from all three levels of the court. if we take our veterans as well as 'blue collar' type of players into account, wall, ego, theis, KMJ n Garuba, this team can reshuffle n hammer out different lineups, esp can either play blazing up-tempo transition games, pg: kpj sg: jg sf: tate pf: wood/kmj c: al p or play slow n grinding games pg: wall/dj augustin sg: ego/kpj sf: tate/nwaba pf: wood/garuba c: al p/theis we're gonna witness an amazing evolvement of this team in the coming season for sure, it's on the bright side. still, the odds are: 1) will silas glue the rookies n veterans well? 2) will KPJ n JG not only coexist but also bloosom at the same time? 3) will KPJ grow fast enough to take over Wall's baton?
Yes, there are plenty of mix and match options for Coach Silas. Some people want to view the rotations as some full line change in hockey. Vets one line with all rooks as some kind of line shift as well. Never the two shall met. Hello people, Silas can mix and match any way he sees fit. If I'm the coach I love the options. Guys will probably stay healthier because so many minutes are divided among the top 9 players. Eric Gordon and Wood are not expected to do so much. Doesn't matter who starts in my opinion. Silas could pull Wall after starting him 5 minutes and then insert him to start the second quarter. Mostly vets playing the 4th quarter and taking the boat into port. Rockets have a blend of young and experienced at every position. PG) Wall SG) Eric Gordon SF) House (was a starter at one time and many say with House we would have taken the World Champions that year to 6 games. House has had time to work out some issues and get his mind right......study the Silas play book). PF) C Wood (many felt he had All Star credentials last season) Center) Theis (was starting for a very good Celtics team the past few seasons. Felt like the Celtics missed his consistent presence in the paint after they traded him due to upcoming free agency). I noted the catch and shoot 3-pt percentages of last year's Rockets on another thread. I don't have those numbers in front of me.....but those shooters help open lanes for our facilitators and vice-versa, open up better looks for our spot up shooters. One guy that did t make the cut and get his numbers posted was K Porter jr. But Porter spotted a 40% 3-pt Catch and Shoot while with the Cavs the season before. Nwaba shot well from 3 prior to joining the Rockets last season. Some players have room for improvement or just return to a previous form. Last year was tough on all the players. Ton of distractions. I don't see as many distractions this season and I expect improvement from every player from last year's team. Wall is already on board as evidence of his presence in the Bahamas. https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/2021/09/09/latest-rockets-updates-from-team-workouts-in-bahamas/
Good point. I haven't paid much attention about the "max" through the years and this completely flew over my head. You've changed my mind. I don't want to trade him anymore, but you wonder how Alperen and Usman fit in with Wood. Both Alperen and Usman would fit in well with Wood, especially with Alperen's surprising defense, but one is ultimately a bench player for years and Alperen is the better player now.
Or if TF did not fvck up team from top to bottom. Tilly fvcked the fans and the organization. Everyone fled the team in droves, not just Harden. At.Every.Level.
hahaha, sorry, i almost forgot about this dude n eras him from my roster n leave him in the corner of my HOUSE. Yeah, still can't believe they sent him to Chicago, he is a such a reliable center, it's nice we have him on the TC court. Tho i luv Wall n his branded dougie moves, but he might not be the kinda player we are expecting, whose presence could make players around him way better, like wht cp3 doing in Phoenix. (Hope he prove me wrong in THIS SEASON)
Ca Catch and Shoot 3P% Player...........20/21............19/20.... House...........34.6%..............36.5%...... Nwaba...........28.8%.............42.9%..... Theis..............33.8%.............34.4%...... Eric Gordon...32.8%.............28.4%...... Tate.................30.9%............______ Wall..................38.4%...........______ Kenyon............37.5%...........______ KPjr...................33.3%............40.7%..... Augustin..........42.1%............41.6%..... Well there is Tate, Kenyon and Nwaba to steady the ship if need be Augustin is one of the best ball handlers in PnR in the league. I don't like his 5'11" height playing defense; but I like it better with Theis, Sengun and Garuba having his back over Cousins, Patton, Lamb, Spalding.
Tate n Nwaba worth every penny this team paid, they should be the corner Stone of our new era. augustin's playoff performance in Orlando can be labeled as epic…can't believe he is now quietly staying in a rebuilding team (maybe i missed something unpleasant that led to Orlando giving him up), HE could be a good mentor for our rookies, i feel it.
Yes, I don't get the, "Jalen Green doesn't have handles" stuff ______________________________________________________ As a coach I'm looking at a platoon rotation of: Wall Green >>>>>>>>>> Eric Gordon/Khyri Thomas/Augustin Porter *starter/backup makes no nevermind between Wall/Green/Porter/EGo Tate Kenyon >>>>>>>>>>>House/Porter Nwaba *starter/backup makes no nevermind between Porter/Tate/Kenyon Wood Theis >>>>>>>>>>>Garuba Sengun *I'm guessing Wood/Theis starting. Theis a bonafide screen and roll guy, solid defender. _________________________________________________________ As a coach I foresee good things from this squad. If Porter-Green-Sengun mess up two or three plays in a row......I sub their behind for a vet. Rockets more than likely going 14 roster spots (or 15th an easy waive) and have MLE to pick up waived player from other team or buyout market. Maybe as soon as preseason (prior to opening day perhaps as other teams cut players). Might be a salary dump roster cut coming by some team. Rockets are prepared to pounce.
