Wonder who gets the majority of time in center when Tucker gets back. Both he and Chas really do a good job of hitting the ball hard, but have more swing and miss then the rest of the lineup. I think Meyers has a higher ceiling because of the potential plus defense, but Chas is making a great case to stay in the lineup.
I think it will be Chas, because Dusty will always err on being fair to the guys been here the longest. I would like to see a platoon of sorts utilizing these guys a lot on “rest days” for outfielders and Alvarez, but who knows with our idiot manager. I have no more confidence in his lineup decisions than his bullpen decisions. If we don’t make the World Series this year it is squarely on Dusty.
This is kind of fascinating - so no matter how it plays out, it's all Dusty's fault? Let's say the starting pitchers all suck - Dusty's fault? Or the lineup you'd put out there scores 0 runs, Dusty's fault? Altuve gets the yips and gives away a game 7 on an error - Dusty's fault?
I personally would play Meyers over McCormick. Meyers is the better defender and has the higher offensive ceiling. Plus, McCormick is used to not playing everyday, having spent the first half of the season in a bench role. But it’s close.
Agree....bottom line is none of us know which of these two will be better long term offensively It's pretty clear Meyers is a better defender though.
I don't like Dusty Baker - I never have and said so when he was hired. I also think blaming him - or anyone - for games that haven't happened yet is ... extremely stupid. It's funny that your response to me commenting about someone placing blame on Baker for games that haven't happened (and thus would be impossible to watch) is to watch the games.
https://bbs.clutchfans.net/posts/11743078/ Looks like he figured out how to generate harder contact. Out of selfish curiosity I did a brief google search. I think I may have been the only person on the entire internet to talk about Meyers as a potential star player prior to 2020.
Y'all are arguing about different things. Of course, you are logically correct. What he's saying though, in different words, is that if the Astros fail, the most likely culprit will be Dusty. It may not be, but he's sure screwed up enough to not deserve any more slack.
What’re the Meyers comps out there, floor/ceiling and wherever in between? I could see him having Darin Erstad type career in the median, maybe like Maybin at the floor and Bobby Abreu/Grady Sizemore fusion at the ceiling.
