Does anyone have a fear that Chas McCormick's sudden power this season is at least partially a result of getting a little "help"? I'm somewhat worried that we traded Miles Straw and then at some point this season Chas gets popped for PED just like Laureano did. I know Miles Straw wasn't exactly the savior, but anytime a player suddenly displays power that wasn't evident during his minor league career, it makes me nervous. Or maybe I'm just looking for things to worry about.
He hit 11 HR in 225 PA in AAA. A 24 year old improving his launch angle isn't really that unheard of. And even if we theoretically were to lose him, I don't think Meyers is a significant step down from Straw, if at all. Might even be a big upgrade.
It really looks like he has decided to swing for the fences every time. In the minors, he was a good contact hitter who got the ball in the air, but didn't quite have enough ummpff to get the ball over the fence that often until AAA. Swinging harder has caused him to swing and miss more, but get that extra ummpff. If it was PEDs, he probably would not need as much effort in his swing to get to power. On another topic, Josh James's BB% this year in AAA is the same as it was in AAA just before he was originally called up. This is a very good sign as he had enough control when he first came up to be effective.
Basically confirms all 3 will see regular appearances in key situations…. With Robel playing everyday.
