It seems like Green and Sengun have a leg up on other rookies, having played professionally in the last year.
I know we're all raving about Sengun, but for the youngest 19-year old on the court, I have to point out that he played 24:49 with two fouls and zero turnovers. For a young big man that is so uncharacteristic. He's going to make the game so much easier for Green by setting screens for him off the ball and post-ups where Green can make cuts to open spaces. That will be the next evolution in our offense. For those who like advanced stats, here are the offensive/defensive rating stats: Sengun 125.4 // 86.7 Josh Christopher 120.0 // 87.5 Jalen Green 117.1 // 94.2 Cade Cunningham 109.0 // 115.7 Killian Hayes 89.4 // 125.8
Tonight's the first time that I've seen Portland's summer league team. What's up with all of the older guys? 3 guys over 30 and 2 more 27 or more? Faried? Beasley? For real?
Yeah. When I saw Beasley and Faried on there, I thought for sure Beasley would be the MVP and they'd probably win the summer league title. lol.
Sengun definitely. Jalen a bit, but I think he only played something like 15 games in the G League season.
I know I talk about personality a lot, but man rockets have THREE guys with star personalities. Fun and vibes! If Destiny Usman shows up with one.. we gonna have a problem!
Sengun was +22 on the court (same with JC). The Rockets are unstoppable when he is on the floor. Thriller is no slouch either at +17 but he needed to get the nerves out firstm
Well, the Rockets are #10 and #11. Luke Garza and Killian Hayes are trending, so I'm guessing there's some Detroit madness going on. *EDIT* : Josh is #9. Wth.
It's weird how much better our rookies + KJ look than everyone else not only on the roster, but the court. Lamb, Foster, Anderson, even Khyri Thomas tbh, all look like they're JV players on the Varsity team when they're on the court with these guys, as does the other team when KJ gets in the air and they look totally helpless, or Christopher gets out on the break, or Sengun is in the post. It's just crazy how good they look.
Jalen Green hit me with the ol' Kevin Martin today--was thinking how quiet he's been but then I check and he has 20+ points on great efficiency. The difference is, unlike KMart, Jalen is multidimensional and one of the most springy guys I've ever seen. Really, REALLY high on his potential. I still refuse to overreact after two summer league games, but Houston fans...I am so happy
