Apparently Celtics fans had a running joke that his wingspan is classified. I can’t find his wingspan anywhere. People don’t realize that Olynyk was basically T-Rex with a 6’9” wingspan.
Literally everyone accept Nwaba and Theis will be FA's in 2023. They'll have cap space growing out their ears Houston Rockets 2023-24 Salary Cap Table | Spotrac
This guy is below average every time I watch him play, either the opposing guard is getting whatever they want at the rim, or he's being outmuscled by the other team's post player. Credit to Stone for his draft choices, but this signing is a miss. Maybe they think there's too much overlap of niches between KO and Wood and thats why they went with Theis. But Wood looks like one of those dudes who will be perennially injured, so betting on him is a bad idea. Wood is gonna spend half of next season in a suit on the bench.
Theis is undersized, but he can take a hit. Pascal Siakim kicked him in the face. He didn't fall down. He didn't retaliate either. He will fall down, but he will get up.
I wrestle with that thought quite a bit ..... Wood not resigning that is. The dude put up 21/10 & shot better than 37% from 3 .... He actually posted better numbers last year than Anthony Davis. I think the jury is still out on whether or not they offer him that max deal he wants - He's got this year and up to the trade deadline of 22/23 to earn it from the Rockets. We'll have to see if he improves this season and probably more important - If he can stay healthy .... but we'll know at that 22/23 trade deadline what the teams intentions are because I can't see them simply allowing him to expire , either they resign him or they trade him before he expires - at that 22/23 deadline .... along with Wall & EG as they all three expire after that season. That's going to be a busy trade deadline for Stone .... Tate & KPj also expire then. Going into 23/24 they will have only Theis , Nwaba , Khyri Thomas and KMj under contract along with this years rookies.
You guys don't have to worry about the 4 years on the Theiss contract. He won't be here past the 2022 trade deadline. This was just a way to roll over the Oladipo TE while providing mentorship in the meantime.
Tony Bradley would’ve been a cheaper and better option but Theis is a hustle player that everyteam need but we also need youth
I just saw someone who scores 6 points and who just tries hard on defense get 9 million per year. We have to realize where the NBA is when it comes to burning money. Once you realize that, 8.3 million is really 5 million and pretty cheap.
