OMG, last I checked it was 95 degrees in the house. The guys have been working on the A/C since 8:40 AM, and it was 74 before they turned it off this morning. It didn't help that they left for lunch and were gone 2 hours. Who knows what the temp is now, because they shut off the thermostat. It's not any cooler outside. I'm about to crawl inside the fridge. Ugh. I'll take a Texas freeze any day over this hell.
as a Native Houstonian who left in 2009 and left Austin last February I'm so glad I moved to Ruidoso NM.... the one thing I don't miss is the summer heat in Houston. its currently a perfect 72 degrees here and the windows and doors are wide open. Good luck getting the AC fixed.
I live for this weather. Freezing temps are no fun. I admit my pool could use a bunch of ice right now.
No A/C in Texas is like hell on earth when it's 97 out. Probably over 100 in here now. They left for another hour and just got back. That's 3 hours they've left today as this house keeps getting hotter.
lol. I've had my AC go out a few times over the past few years. Each time it was for about 1-3 days. One time it was 100+ in my upstairs gameroom. I say "100+" because the thermostat only read up to 99.9 before it went "tilt" and started showing asterisks. It was actually a bit cooler outside working with the AC guy. I think I'll take the AC going out over freezing temps like this past winter in the DFW area. I don't like the thought of having pipes burst causing further damage. That, and because of ice/snow, I couldn't go anywhere else. At least when it's 100 degrees, you can go somewhere else. I try not to b**** about the heat after seeing my parents with no AC/electricity for a week or two after Hurricane Rita or Ike... I forget. No ac/no fans. That, and my dad and I used to ride around in 90+ heat in an old Impala with no AC. lol. I also think about how I used to ride around with friend and play basketball in 90-95 degree heat outdoors, and yeah... I'll take that over having my pipes explode and the worries and headaches that costs. Turn a fan on or something!
Living in the South, portable units are a must in the event of an emergency. While you don't have to own it, at least know someone that does.
As if the garage is cooler. I'm not gonna go get a window unit while they fix the A/C. Now that is ridiculous.
Well next time your A/C goes our enjoy! Sure, we all used to get out and play in the heat. Sure, people always have it worse. Just hot as hell and can't leave while they work on it, which started this morning. Felt like b****ing.
When the ac went out two summers ago in our house for two days… I went to Home Depot and bought a top of the line window unit, hung blankets to block off passageways from the living room and the whole family camped out there. once they fixed the AC I returned the unit and stated I didn’t like it, money back np
Replaced both of my ac units back in May. 80s outside and wasn’t too bad inside. Still I had an old portable window unit running in one room. I kept it for these special occasion.
