I would use him for a player with multiple years left. I think buxton has another year left so I would trade Whitley for him
Idk man... every time i look around the media hypes up their farm system. Houston's farm system isn't as bad as what the media tries to say it is. Nook talked about this yesterday.
Luzardo for all the hype he has had has not panned out. He was OK before he got hurt, then when he got back he was getting destroyed as a reliever so much so he was sent back to the Minors. I do believe he has more value than Whitley but don't think he's that great of a prospect as many are making them out to be.
No question. I'm fine with adding Marte (unlikelynow) . I think we answered the question of Tucker being in CF
To be fair, the Marlins are paying Marte's entire salary. They did that so they could get Luzardo. I agree the cost might be high. Just depends on where the Cubs are at and the price.
He should regress by more than a run. Still, he should be the second or third best reliever with Javier in the mix. I think he’ll be better than Villar and I don’t know why you are referencing Moran, who has hit fairly well in the majors. I could definitely see Toro ending up on a similar plane as Moran and Rojas, which would be a big win for the Mariners.
If Breggy comes back and is the usual Breggy where would Bryant play? Giving up the farm for a guy who isnt a pitcher or an everyday player is absurd.
Moran has played in 410 games and has exactly 0.1 WAR. I think Toro can actually be pretty good. I don't think you have to look very far for a fair comparison. He can take over for Kyle Seager and give them Kyle Seager type production for the next 5 years for $15 million less per year.
Since nobody else is playing, how about the above for Bregman and Straw. Before getting too excited, the payoff would be a second year of Kimbrel and Marisnick and an option to pursue either Bryant or Correa (or a replacement) with payroll relief in 2023 and 2024. For 2021 Hottest 4 of 6 Starters Kimbrel, Pressly and Graveman in the BP 2B Altuve LF (DH) Brantley 3B Bryant 1B Gurriel DH (LF) Alvarez CF McCormick (Marisnik defensive replacement) RF Tucker SS Correa C Maldenado (Pitcher's best friend)
He could be a slightly above replacement level. Maybe even solidly above avg. I think it's wishful thinking that he will become a star level player.
If Graveman solves the bullpen issues and the Stros win another WS it will be worth it. Even if they dont win a WS the risk was worth the attempted reward.
This is the guy i've been on record as wanting for a while now....Put him with Graveman and Javier leading to Pressly, and the pen is set
