We got Graveman. Huge get. Surprised the Mariners traded him being in the hunt and all. Certainly solidifies the back end. I doubt Click is done we also got Montero, who was the Mariners closer earlier this season. He’s struggled recently. Glad to get rid of Smith though. Nice move Click
Hoping this isn't the big deal. Edit: I like Graveman. He should be a great help in the regular season, and even in the playoffs. I just want another arm, starter or reliever, that dominates.
Sad to see Toro(fellow Canadian) go but with Diaz coming back as the utility man and Bregman nearing a return, he was expendable (and 1 of few trade chips they have). And as much as I wanted Joe Smith to have a chance at a World Series, he was sucking and probably would have been designated for assignment to clear a 40 man roster spot. With that said, glad to get Graveman. And hopefully Strom can fix the other guy. Click talked big and backed it up. Hopefully more to come
This trade will only be good if Montero is good and is an elite setup man. Toro is probably going to be a decent everyday player for the Mariners. Adding 2 RP sure seems like the bullpen is full. Josh James or Austin Pruitt would probably need to be traded if they add another pitcher. Not a bad trade, mission accomplished on upgrading the bullpen, and they didn’t give up any of their top prospects or go over the luxury tax.
Btw hot damn some of y'all are downers. Graveman is a ****ing good reliever, and immediately becomes the second best arm in this BP. Adjust your expectations and understand this trade helps the team NOW.
Montero is terrible. Graveman is having a career year and should help the pen. I thought Toro would have been in the package to try and get Kimbrel from Cubs.
