Astros already had Altuve, had Springer/Correa/LMJ in the minors, were seeing Keuchel find form that would have him winning a CYA, were about to sign Yuli, and were about to draft Bregman (Aiken), Tucker, etc. Maybe the Rangers already have those future pieces in place… but if they don’t, they’re miles away from where the Astros were 7-8 years ago.
Yea anyone trying to compare the Astros to that low life worthless ass franchise might have alternative motivations F the rangers
Irvin gives up 4 to Seattle so far. For someone having as good a year as he has been having, he just can't make a quality start against division opponents (quick look and I counted 1 QS among 11 division starts, but may have missed one).
I wonder if there's even a Luhnow chance that we could pick up a certain CFer on this road trip while passing through LA. I know it's even more farfetched than picking up Verlander or Cole or Greinke, but it's fun to dream. 1. R 2B Altuve 2. L LF Brantley 3. R 3B Bregman 4. L RF Tucker 5. R CF PTBNL 6. L DH Alvarez 7. R 1B Gurriel 8. R SS Correa 9. R C Maldenado/ L C Castro All peaking in October... ps This is not because I'm unhappy with Straw. Now if only he could catch.
His 4-run 3rd went FO, GO, 1B, BB, HBP, 2RBI 1B, RBI 1B, RBI 1B, FO 2 of the hits were not what you would call well-struck. The Mariners are ****ing pissants this year. It's ridiculous what they're doing.
Now do Bregman. Nope - He's not ready. But I look forward to the day he IS ready and has his plate discipline back. The hits will follow.
I like a couple of them, but they are last or next to last in the AL (with the Rangers) in R/G, BA, OBP, SLG, OPS and have the 3rd most Ks. They're also pretty much league average or worse in the important pitching categories (R/G, Whip, Fip, Ks). They don't give up HRs, though. Pissants, I say. eta: but I am jealous of much of their bullpen.
to be fair, he's saying you have to lose to win and Correa Isn't that the point of what OP said? You have to lose to win. Correa Bregman are here because the Astros were absolutely terrible and they were a bottom 4 team to get Tucker. LMJ benefited from the huge pool the Astros had for being the worst team and saving money from Correa. They did hit on Altuve/Springer/Keuchel though. I hope they miss on every prospect like they did with Tate, but this season for the Rangers is more comparable to the 2012 Astros if you really want to compare them imo
Just another ho-hum win for the Sea Hags. 1 out, Steckenrider (who is really good) loses the grip on a CB and hits Chapman. Moreland dribbles a ground ball through the shift to LF...Chapman never slows down, Seager (who was playing next to 2B) hustles back to 3rd, the LFer (Jake Bauer, who was wearing what appeared to be snow goggles, now I hate him) busted his ass to the ball in shallow LF - he's left-handed so he didn't have to adjust his body to set up for the throw like a righty would - throws a bullet to 3B and Seager slaps the tag on Chapman's elbow about 2 inches before he hits the bag. Just brilliant. Next guy pops up, ballgame. Pissants.
