Dude these are your exact words. "Every scout sees him as a rim-runner. That is his sole NBA translatable offensive skill right now. He is absolutely fantastic at it." Now you want to deny it. LOL Nobody has any rage, I am just enjoying exposing you as a fraud that does not know **** about basketball. Nobody is saying he is Kevin Durant, nobody. Saw now you are just using a straw man to try and deflect from the fact you have been exposed as a fraud and a hater. I am not the one calling a prospect a dork just to try and prove a point. Now you claim you don't care and you are just trying to get under my skin. That's always the fallback when the actual facts slap you upside the head. Typical
Didn't Camby have that fugly jumper where he twirled the ball over his head before releasing? Mobley has a soft, easy jumper all the way out to the arc From mid range it's already a weapon He just doesn't shoot often
To be clear, my hottest take is that he has a long way to go to avoid becoming a relegated rim runner/roll man. I am NOT seeing this faceup KD/Gina/AD/KG demon that some of you guys are. Hell, even Christian Wood-level stuff is going to take some serious work.
I disagree that at every level he has played he has looked like a far superior player and more comfortable and his draft profiles say differently. I also saw him play and Mobley looks far more comfortable handling the ball and being a playmaker. I don't see Mobley being an AD but I can see him having that type of overall impact.
Every scout DOES SEE HIM AS A RIM-RUNNER. THAT IS A FACT... Show me where I said that scouts ONLY see him as a rim-runner. I'll wait...
No I remember. He was a fantastic defensive player, but he (rightfully) wasn't seen as an especially skilled offensive player. He was solid and capable on that end but ballhandling, passing vision, touch were all at least a notch below what we've seen from Mobley. He was drafted 1 overall primarily to D up on the likes of Shaq, Hakeem, D Robinson, Karl Malone, not to outscore them. In the mid-90s you really needed a guy like Camby. In the 2020s you need a guy like Mobley if you're drafting a big in the top 5. We're in agreement that Camby was a great defender. We're not in agreement that Camby has the range of offensive skills that Mobley has currently, let alone the skills he has the potential to develop. It is not a great comparison
Camby never played out on the perimeter and was rarely asked to switch so once again you are just making **** up. Really my guy, why out here pushing fiction? Yes I watched him and it's not like he was getting a lot of nationwide coverage because he played in the Atlantic 10, I live on the east coast then.
"Defensively he is aces, offensively he has a longgg way to go to avoid being a Capela rim runner." It seems to me the strong implication here is that he's currently just a rim-runner
“I’ve called him a generational talent, and here’s why,” Etop Udo-Ema told The Undefeated. “He’s got a mixture of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant in his game, and he’s a great defensive player who can change the course of any game. I’ve been coaching for 30 years and I’ve seen pretty much every top player that has been through Southern California, and if he develops, he can be better than any of them. “Once he gets bigger and stronger, there is no ceiling for this kid.”
Most scouts were super impressed with his improving offensive game in college and hopeful that he could translate to the NBA. Comments: "Camby made great strides in improving his offense this season. He's a versatile player, who's capable of playing all three front-court positions." Sound familiar? This is one of the scouts that found Kobe. Owen P O'Malley
LoL. Why are leaving out this part. That is his sole NBA translatable offensive skill right now. That's flat out false, good try at the deflection. Now it's Semantics
That's not most scouts that's one. And then you ignored what it said after that. http://www.ibiblio.org/craig/draft/1996_draft/scout/pf.html Marcus has always been a presence on the defensive end. But what position does he play in the NBA? Small forward-his dribbling skills aren't that impressive. PForward-needs upper boby strength. Let's now ever mention the Center position. His offensive game improved a lot this past season. Was a clutch performer. Very intelligent ball player. Once again caught in a fiction.
He improved from a guy that can catch and dunk to a guy that can make a hook shot sometimes and post up a little bit. Over three years in college. This in no way means that he was as skilled as Mobley, just that he got better than being pretty bad The idea of him playing SF was laughable, he never played wing in the NBA or college.
You keep saying over three years in college, as If that was a negative back in those days. It wasn't. Also displayed some intriguing open court skills at that time. Easy to look back now that we have the complete data and say that he wasn't Mobley, but at the time he had just as many fervent supporters that thought he was going to be a 2-way monster.
Again, this is MY opinion. And you saying that it is false is YOUR opinion. It is a fact that he currently has more translatable NBA offensive skills than being a rim-runner/roll-man? Are we so sure about that? Can he currently shoot, dribble or pass at an NBA level? Where did I lie, btw? Still waiting.
The fact that Camby had a better offensive game than Mobley and was switching on the perimeter. Ok so now we know you have **** opinions and nobody should take you seriously.
