realistically, a big parameter to if Tilman learned anything is what we do with Kelly Olynk. When we were contending, we straight up ignored Ariza's bird rights. When you are at the cap, you can use those contracts as an asset to get talent/trade elsewhere. Ariza was a one year deal, he was eventually traded a few months later by the suns for Kelly Oubre Jr. Likewise we traded a first round pick to get the savings/contract of shumpert, that summer we also ignored his bird rights to add talent, and just let it off the books. This is while "we went all in for Harden/Morey" according to tillmnan. So now we have the expiring contract of Kelly Olynk, a fast fan favorite who has been a pleasant surprise. Does he fit our team time line? Not sure, he could be a solid vet presence or we can sign and trade him and that will really show if we're trying to accumulate assets/picks or continuing to save money. There is a cap floor in the nba of the minimum teams have to spend, I'm not sure how close we are to that because outside Wall/Gordon every other contract is rookie or mid level or cheaper.
Gordon and Wood to the warriors for Wiggins and their kid from Memphis they took this year who has shown flashes. Who says no?
Not a bad trade. We get to build for the future on wiseman, GSW welcomes back klay, continues to go all in and gets Wood and hopes gordon stays healthy. But if tillman thought paul was the worst contract in sports, he's already retweeted the GSW tax bill, I'm not sure he'll take a liking to wiggins. I'd do it because wiseman would be a top 5 pick this year again
I wanna retain Wood, but his slight frame could result in another injury. I'll agree to it with some reluctance. Wiggins isn't playing too badly. I doubt if GS will agree to this deal.
I'm definitely high on wood. Its his first year since he's realized he can be special and I'd say hes doing an amazing job. It hasn't translated to wins but I think all of us feel this year is sort of gone to crap. But now that he has an idea of what it takes, and hte other guys including KPJ have an offseason to assess where they want to get better, I still see us growing more. I just see more upside with Wiseman and his timeline especailly. Wiggins isn't bad, he just isn't worth the contract and tillmans not the type of guy to just swallow that.
yeah that sounds interesting. or if the warriors get the wolves pick this year i think it has to be 5 or 6 that and wiggins for and salary filler for woods/tate/gordon/ and the rockets 2 picks late round. then a high pick next year two top 10 picks this year hopefully and next year and KPJ then hella cap space along with the nets picks that trade i posted though im not sure if it is even, lopsided for the warriors, im pretty sure it wouldnt be lopsided for the rockets.
Another big guy who can rebound and play hard defense, could take pressure off from Wood. I would really like that. Wood is developing good chemistry with KPJr.
Oh yeah Christian Wood with his 20BMI and moving patterns surely doesnt look like someone who will be as durable as glass. Guy is good right now but we dont need players right now and by time we will be good he will be either old or after injuries. Id flip him for pick/younger player. Same goes to the ****ing nutcase House and my personal favourite EG. Not sure anybody would take Wall
Keep Tate, the new glue guy too. He doesn't have the trade value plus 2 non lottery picks to get into the top 5 range in the upcoming draft.
The "cap floor" is 90% of the actual cap line. This year the cap is $109,140 , 000 so the cap floor is $98,226,000. The Rockets are over the cap at $123,078,919. 47.22% of the total is Wall and EG.
Keep Olynyk and Augustine for good role model veteran presences. Wood is on that borderline of being old enough to not mesh with a KPJ/ year's frp rebuild but I think we still should hold on to him at least for another year to see if KPJ and who ever we get in the first round this year if we are lucky accelerate their growth to the point where we are a competitive playoff team in the next 2-3 seasons. If the organization doesn't see itself as competitive within the next three seasons, then you have to trade Wood after next season. Everyone else besides KPJ, Tate and KMJ is expendable. Maybe Brooks if he can sustain great shooting because you can never have enough shooters in the modern NBA.
