https://nypost.com/2021/04/14/bernie-madoff-infamous-ponzi-schemer-dead-at-82/ Bernie Madoff, whose $65 billion Ponzi schememade him one of the world’s most hated criminals and destroyed even his own family, died Wednesday at the secure federal medical center in Butner, North Carolina, where he was serving a 150-year sentence, according to prison officials. The Associated Press reported the 82-year-old scam king, who had been suffering from end-stage kidney disease and other chronic ailments, died of natural causes. Madoff would have turned 83 on April 29. ....... ....... .......
Sunk the owners of the NY Mets. Elie Weisel was the one that bothers me the most. Look at the list of major global financial institutions (and private citizens, and charities, and funds, and...) that fell for this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_investors_in_Bernard_L._Madoff_Investment_Securities
looking forward to the biopic. al pacino can play him, but he may be too old. maybe luke wilson with makeup. if not, tom cruise would be great.
Hard to believe the amount of red flags that must’ve been overlooked simply because of his name/reputation. 37k victims, $65 Billion... that is a lot of cannolis!! The Palm Beach Country Club bothers me the most... ....... ....... .......
Dude robbed stupid rich people without violence. In my book, Respect. And before anyone mentions pensioners I want to say that you have to be GREEDY and stupid to believe in 13% profits in a bear market. It should have raised so many alarms but people didn't care because their greed came before their logic. Kinda like the White van speaker scam. You are being sold on something you know is theft but you still buy it anyway because you are greedy.
There's a fine line between a ponzi scheme and legit financial businesses. The US dollar is essentially a ponzi scheme. You have to work your ass off to get wealthy. It's a shame that he took the 'easy' route, because he had talent to pull it off. I wonder if he had an escape plan or if it just got away from him.
Actually dude robbed ordinary people in addition to rich people. Guy was a scumbag. Might feel diffearen Actually the dude robbed ordinary people in addition to rich people. The guy was a scumbag and doesn't deserve "respect". You might feel different if it was your retirement was wiped out by him.
if I was stupid enough to believe in an obvious ponzu scheme I would feel differently. I’d feel an idiot. Too bad I’m not.
