I've always felt to develop young talent like Porter you have to surround him with competent players. For example if instead of a 38% 30 year old knocking down corner 3s you stick a 21 year old shooting 32% to "develop" him, the paint won't open up for drives for porter. Replace the older guys as you go but have a functioning team that can run the systems...
I said in another thread that I thought people would like him once they had seen him a little. That’s not the problem. The issue is that he will almost certainly be gone next season due to his contract situation. His skill set makes a ton of sense for this team, but I can’t imagine the Rockets being willing to spend what it will probably take to bring him back. It is nice seeing another competent big though, even if is most likely a short term rental.
He came into the league the same year as Brad Stevens (2013). Four years with Stevens at Boston and four with Spolestra at MIA. As far as culture and system, he should have good habits. Hopefully that rubs off here with the other young guys. Clemons and BMac's first game with the Rockets were also very hot, but due to whatever reasons (rotation or otherwise), didn't stay consistent. Even if Rockets tank, I'd like to see Olynyk's 3PT % bounce back.
Are you kidding me if he can hit the 3 consistently then start him at the five and move wood to the 4. They both run the floor well. Tate should be coming off the bench until he can consistently hit the 3. No one should be on the floor if they can't shoot.
Sad but true. Oladipo is a nice guy. He was a very good player before he got hurt. He's not our problem anymore.
Man. This sucks because I really love to watch us win, but tbh we really need to tank. I really think we are going to start rolling off some games here.
Wow is Olynyk what Daryl Morey thought and hoped Ryan Anderson would be? Until the Rockets draft Mobley and Kuminga, go, go Kelly Olynyk!
Yes Kelly is perfect for our, or should I say, Silas system. This why i proposed going after him in free agency or even trading for Kelly O in the trade forum. Big enough to body up against the big body PF/Centers while still able to hit 3's and maintain our spacing. Good passer from the 4 or 5 spot. Saves Wood from the grind at Center defensively. If the Rockets can keep him beyond this season, hopefully he believes the Silas system can maximize his potential, that would allow Wood to open up his offense even more. Achieve that 27 points per game mark I have him getting next season. His defensive flaws can be covered up by quicker, younger, lengthy players next to him. One of the few times the Rockets may have taken my advice from this site, but I'm still not a fan of the Oladipo trade as is.
This guy will be the new DMo. Everybody will love him while also making excuses & blaming others when he sucks. You guys will label this man unstoppable if he averages 10+ points
The guy has been a legitimate rotational player on some very good teams. He’s the perfect kind of role playing big that teams put around stars.
