I missed this earlier but Michael Henderson is the man! I am familiar of him from his appearances with Miles Davis on some of his key '70s albums such as "A Tribute to Jack Johnson", "On the Corner", and "Get Up With It". Didn't know that he sang but maybe I did and just forgot it.
I'm finishing up Iron Maiden's unbelievable "Number of the Beast". I have a lot of Maiden in my music hard drive but I am ashamed to say that I don't listen to them much. This album is so good that maybe I should rethink where I rank them in my personal favorite 10 metal bands.
My 10 favorite metal bands (changes from week to week): 10 - Anthrax 9 - Death 8 - Sepultura 7 - Iron Maiden 6 - Metallica (they sorta lost me after the Black album) 5 - Black Sabbath 4 - Motorhead 3 - Pantera 2 - Slayer 1 - Judas Priest
Did i miss the Chick Corea RIP thread? Saw these guys several times back in the early 90's. I always left just wanting to quit music all together, knowing that I could never even approach being that good no matter how much I practiced.
As someone that appreciates also appreciates Maiden, I think you may like unlucky morpheus. catchy melodic metal, powerful frontman/woman with crazy vibrato, harmonising guitar leads, bass isn't as heavy in the mix but better drums + violin(!) are amazing too. discovered them thru the youtube algo; quite a few good songs from what i've seen so far and they sound amazingly good live.
Metallica Anthrax Pantera Iron Maiden Megadeth ...is what it was back in the day. Good concerts in the Summit.
