Posted in another forum: GSW in: Oladipo, Tucker, House Houston: Wiggins, Minnesota's FRP. We have to eat another bad contract for the same period we have to eat Wall's and Gordans. We build through the draft. Lottery pick this year even if we can't tank for our own top 4 pick. Really depends on how bad GSW wants to get rid of Wiggins.
Oladipo and PJ may not commit to GSW for a long duration. Their expiring contracts will probably make GSW hesitant to make such a move.
Yes it would be a salary dump of a bad contract. It would be a gamble, but not sure why dipo wouldn't want to play longterm for GSW.
He might agree to play with Curry, but if he wants to get back to the EC, then Miami might sign him in the off season. The Heat are the better team right now.
Wiggins has had motivational issue his entire career. I’m not fooled/convinced by this stretch of solid basketball by him. Nope. If we trade Dipo we need to get younger.
The pick provides the youth. If it’s top 3 they would be foundational for the rebuild. Wiggins is to make the trade for the pick possible
Can we take Klay Thompson instead? We’re already running a rehab center . Wiggins is just irritating to me. Dude has the skill set and natural ability to be a top 25 player in this league but jsut doesn’t care. We do t need that type of player. around the youngin’s. Might rub off on them
Would Denver give up MPJ for their choice of all or any of Oladipo, Gordon, Tucker, and House? Just getting that one foundational future piece is enough for me to unload all that. Throw in any salary filler they need. Those guys plus Jokic, Murray, and anyone they can keep is a legit contender. Maybe they can throw in Bolbol or Hampton too.
It's a bit disrespectful to say I'm just stat watching because I have numbers to back up what my eyes see. For the record, the Magic have tried him as a point forward. They've tried him at SF, as a spot up shooter, and as an iso scorer (both perimeter and post) with inconsistent results. It's unfair to blame his offensive struggles on just "Orlando" because his teammates don't struggle similarly and this has happened across multiple coaches and seasons. Like that video said, maybe he's just not as good as you think? The only thing they haven't really tried is using Gordon as a PNR finisher and they're not going to do that with Vucevic in the middle and no elite PNR passer. If we obtained Gordon the PNR game is Wood's wheelhouse anyway.
That's not a massive haul for a two-way player who's averaging 25/6. They're basically giving up a 26 year old breakout player for a role player, a dude who punched a woman, got a weapons charge, threw a tantrum in the locker room, and a late first rounder.
they did not. They refused to add Murray. MPJ was made available, both in a deal for Harden and 3 team scenarios.
Exactly! Excellent job making my point. Orlando has failed to play AG at his most natural position, the 4 spot, for the majority of his time with the team. You support everything I've stated. Magic have played AG at SF in lieu of Tobias Harris and now Jonathan Isaac. Magic even drafted another 4 most recently in Chuma Okeke. Magic do not play AG as roller or dunker spot where he is most efficient or even as a cutter where he is also efficient. Preferring to play him as spacing wing or in the post. Magic encouraged his mid range game instead of developing him into modern 3-D forward - layups or 3's. Magic just recently allowed AG to play point forward due to injuries to starting PG, Markelle Fultz. AG has increased his average to almost 4 assists a game. Magic philosophy is to draft, trade or sign as many long defensive minded players as possible which essentially clogs the paint for a player with triple threat ability and/or thrives in driving and finishing at the basket. Magic have drafted/traded/signed following players during AG tenure: Biyombo, Ibaka, Vucevic, Mozgov, Speights, Tobias Harris, Adreian Payne, Khem Birch, Hezonja, Isaac, Sabonis, Bamba, Aminu, Okeke, Gary Clark And finally, AG is at his absolute best (near elite) as an iso defender but Magic prefer playing hybrid defense that features drop coverage and even zone. So yes, you are absolutely correct. Magic have failed to put AG in position to maximize his potential. But that is not unusual, Magic have consistently squandered the talents of their players who have gone on to play their best with other teams: Tobias Harris, Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis are such examples and soon Aaron Gordon.
We'll just have to disagree on AG's offensive potential and utilization in Orlando. He's had plenty of time at both forward spots as Fournier and Ross has taken the majority of time on the wings. FYI, Sabonis has never played for Orlando.
You are completely missing point on adding Drummond. 1st, Drummond is on expiring contract. 2nd, Wood has chemistry with Drummond and they are actually very efficient when both play together unlike Wood-Cousins. Because Drummond is much better defending post AND the perimeter than Boogie. 3rd, Drummond is just as effective as Boogie playing 5 Out because of his ability to show and go. And Drummond is better playmaker than Boogie, averaging almost 3 assists a game. 4th, Drummond is younger and healthier than Boogie, most important ability is availability. 5th, Drummond adds another 20 point scorer. Drummond is a 20-20 machine. 6th, Drummond would drastically improve Rockets rim protection AND rebounding. Leads NBA in rebounding, unlike Cousins. 7th, Drummond would make Rockets more disruptive adding to their possessions - is top 10 in steals, deflections and blocks. 8th, Drummond would add another physical gritty long big that Rockets can utilize vs. the best teams in the West. Let's put hurt on the Lakers for a change. 9th, Drummond would at THE very least be an upgrade to Boogie as backup 5. 10th, Drummond is trade option at deadline for another contending team. You also completely miss mark about adding more bigs around Wood like AG, Nance, Drummond. AG can either initiate PnR or be the roller (when Wood rests or if injured). AG can play same role with Drummond because they are both threats to attack the basket off the dribble. THIS is what Silas wants for his system. Silas needs as many players with triple threat ability to shoot from the arc, vision to find and pass to open man, put ball on floor and finish hard at basket or stop and pop from mid range. Silas' historically most efficient offense included Luka, Porzingas AND Boban. So your insistence that he could not utilize much more skilled bigs than Boban in similar fashion is disingenuous. Silas is supposed to be an offensive genius. Comparing him to SVP who has never come close to building let alone executing the most efficient offense in NBA history is asinine.
The point you miss again, Sabonis was acquired by Orlando at a position that was overflowing and inadequately developed. Throwing so much of their resources at 4/5 was irresponsible as well as short sighted.
