Tank! Tank! Tank! Sorry the Houston Rockets organization under Tillman Fertitta is good for one thing Tanking! Get as much assets we can to buy a big 3. Hopefully as soon as he does that Tillman sells the team.
i mean there's no way they could have predicted when they started that silver would decide to screw them....how could they have known that? You can only go off the information you have at the moment
Trade PJ and BMac for some 2nd rders, Trade Olipado at the deadline. And then roll with the young guys. If they win, great! If they lose, we're closer to Cade or Jalen.
There is no benefit to not tanking. Trade PJ, Bmac and Oladipo for assets and play the young guys. Let them grow. This team has no shot at the playoffs and even if they did make the playoffs that would hurt the draft pick just to get swept. OKC sucks to so realistically having to switch picks with them (top 4 protected) isn’t even going to be a big deal. The key to the game over the next few years is stockpiling assets. Take on terrible contracts to gain picks etc. Make solid draft choices and wait for a star to become available.
We will tank this year because we suck for real. But we will build up value in Wood, Oladipo, Wall, and see if there is any chance a disgruntled star comes available that we can get for them. Honestly, chances of this happening is almost 0. Harden trade is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will probably never happen again. There's a Tillman taint on this organization still, I don't think it has washed off. Again, no superstar will come here without a trade.
Unfortunately, the Thunder also have Miami's first round pick and and can swap that with us rather than their own pick. If we don't get in the bottom 4, in all likelihood we will get Miam's pick.
Should have just named the poll "To Trade Oladipo or Not to Trade Oladipo". SPOILER: It's basically a no-brainer he'll be gone by the deadline, since the Rockets are not signing him to a long term deal. Of course they'll try to get something in return. There's not really a whole lot of suspense. As for the other possible moves.... 1.) We may also trade Tucker, but we won't get a big return for him, so who cares? And let's face it...he's not really going to contribute to winning much anyway. I don't think Tucker factors into the "tank" discussion, but people can feel free to waste time arguing about it if they want. 2.) We're not trading Wood...just stop. 3.) We'd have to trade away picks to unload Gordon and Wall contracts, which is the opposite of what we want to do, so they're likely staying and will be playing if healthy (see #4). 4.) Silas is going to play the best available players to win. There will be no "throwing" of games. Now that we're all on the same page, what else is there really to cover in the tanking discussion?
Tanking to gamble in the draft is shortsighted... Look at the % of high draft pick busts that get churned out... We need to build a culture - and tanking aint the way to get it started.
i think it depends on the potential draft class also. if there is a surefire star(s), which isn't too often... then there should be an incentive to tank and try to get that guy. if it's anything like this past yr's **** draft class headlined by edwards and wiseman... then there really is no incentive to tank and you could probably get an impact player later in the draft, if anything. i do think cade cunningham has real star potential (given that he actually seems to want to be great at basketball, unlike edwards or wiseman) and if the rockets don't improve on their w-l record soon, then i wouldn't mind just sitting key players and tanking. hopefully tilman has some extra cash to give adam silver some money under the table to secure the #1 pick. or have yao ming represent us at the draft lottery to bully the nba in giving us the no.1 pick - china will not allow it's main basketball figurehead to be embarrassed and come away empty-handed at the draft lottery.
Why do you think we picked players coming off injury? They will definitely try to outplay their contracts. Wall needs to go about 3/4 speed and change his game up to a desceleration. He takes a lot of falls going to the basket. Take a few more 3pointers and play a true point guard role ala CP3. Don’t need him to score as much now. Oladipo and Wood need to score a bunch of points. Wal needs to score double digit assists as concentrate more on play making and defense.
with the new lottery system its better not to tsnk , esp with the 1-4 protection on our own picks. fight as hard as you can, use the TE and the bucks 1st to improve the roster.
We tank the next 2 years, not this year. I just hope our young guys don't get super demoralized while it happens.
I think we will end up tanking. Too much business men are our leaders now to make it honorable like Les. I mean, this week the lineups have been "improbable".
Silas is a good tank/grow with a bad team/learn on the job guy. He's not a guy you roll into a season with when you're expecting to compete. He shouldn't be coaching a Harden-level talent in his prime. For THIS team, that we have now, and these lowered expectations? Sure. Who cares, even. Lulz.
