Do not know.....Doncic came along pretty quickly, like 10-11 years after Harden. Not saying he is Harden but he is the closest I could imagine. And for a Euro that is really rare. I could imagine 6'6-6'8 kids all learning the step backs, Euro steps, going to the charity stripe....... With Hakeem it's rarest, because Yao, Kobe all did the Dream shake to an extent. Embiid...... But nobody came close.
Numbers are real. My whole post was about numbers. Him being a back to basket guy or face up guy really isnt the point The production is the point
Right now Wood is at 22-10 (10.8) and 2 blocks a game at 55% facing the basket. Not Dream like but his rebounding avg is gonna go up and we're gonna be looking at an outstanding season
Yup. Ask David Robinson if Hakeem had issues on the offensive end. BTW, when Wood starts making other All Stars look ridiculous guarding him....then, on that one facet, we can start having this conversation. This is, has most others here have pointed out, simply absurd. Is Wood the best player currently on the Rockets? No...then stop. Is he clearly one of the best players in the NBA? No...then stop. Does the offense routinely go through him? No...then stop. Does he beat others one on one (or even one on two)? No...then stop. Does he have multiple defensive MVP's (or ever likely to)? No...then stop. Can he hold his own against bigger centers/forwards when rebounding (or defending)? No...then stop. See the pattern here? all ends with then stop. You can talk about how good somebody is (and Wood is good) without throwing out ridiculous hyperbole. Even if Wood were doing all of those things (and he's not) he would have to be doing it consistently, for many years, before one could start to make that claim.
Wood right now is not even on Otis Thorpe potential. I have not seen Wood throw a Mahomes like full court pass.
lol at this dude having 'Dream potential' Wood is a solid player, don't get me wrong. I like him a lot. But he's a 4 man. If he wants to play 5, dude needs to get in the weight room. There will be some important games where he sits on the bench because he's getting beasted on the defensive boards. Betting Sabonis gets like 30 and 20 tonight or something crazy.
I don't know if Wood read this board. He certainly has a lot of upside, hopefully can grow into this own. To set the bar at Hakeem (or even Yao), may be a bit too much (unfair even). Let's give it time. I hope he just continually to self improve. Hakeem/Yao were #1 picks that came with its own pressure. Wood went from un-drafted to having to prove himself, to become a legit starter. Historically speaking: very few un-drafted guys make it to a superstar level:. Out of the lot, maybe Ben Wallace being one of the most successful. JJ Brea, Raja Bell, Udonis Haslem, Brad Miller, Darrel Armstrong, Jose Calderon, Bruce Bowen, Avery Johnson, John Starks, and Ben Wallace. If CWood excel he could be a star and time will tell. From a fan perspective, I guess I'd withhold these legends comparison.
I’ve been nervous that he is one of those problems whose potential very much limited due to injuries. You tend to see that on skinnier frames that really can’t take a beating. I’m really hoping that tonight’s injury isn’t an ongoing thing...
