Daryl Morey Strategy - Cut him in Training Camp Trade for him in 4 years, or Resign him in 4 Years Danuel House Robert Covington Bruno Caboclo Christian Wood
A little bit optimistic about our D next season, we have added three athletic young big. Judging from Kenny's highlight reel, i feel puzzled the boy was transferred from volleyball or something? Im worried about his high flying style D cuz might hurt his own man or himself while landing…
He flipped his philosophy, it used to be we found the Chandler Parsons, we dont pay for them. Now its we find them, cut them lose, you train them, we pay em.
One thing I notice is that he relaxes too much after his blocks are secured by a teammate, at least in this video. If he wants to play with Harden and/or Russ, he needs to be sprinting to the rim.
Kenny Wooten reminds me Trevor Ariza as a Rookie on the Knicks a Shot Blocker but no 3 Point Shot. Or Tracy McGrady Raptor Years shot blocking. Kenny needs to work on his 3s, especially Corner 3s.
Maybe if it was referred to in terms of Golden States' Death Lineup or Hamptons 5 instead of last seasons "small ball", more people would understand and see it as a positive. And understand it could be used situationally, not for all 4 Quarters.
Yeah, calling it "small ball" is definitely stupid and leads to the confusion. I remember during the playoffs against the lakers, after the rockets lost one of the games, the lakers didn't play Dwight or McGee at all, and played "small ball" the whole game with Morris and Anthony Davis at the 4/5. One of the reporters asked MDA "Do you really think this small ball thing can work for the full 48 minutes?" and he responded with something like "Why don't you ask the Lakers? They just did it to us and they won." MDA got mocked and called an idiot all over the internet, with people claiming that the lakers weren't playing small ball because Anthony Davis is 7 feet tall. There's a real disconnect between what "small ball" actually means, and what the general public think it means.
Had questions on the block discipline too. Fun seeing ball spiked into 10th row. Though sometimes better keeping it in play and continuing on. The main thing though is he does gets the blocks.
I don't think his lack of 3 point shooting means much. The MDA/Morey era is over and the Rockets are not exclusively a 3 point/layup club anymore. If Harden wants to continue that style he can, but I don't think the expectation will be for the entire team to play that way
