I will credit the Rockets and Tilman for empowering Stone to hire a good, diverse and up and coming coaching staff,
Weaver was also an assistant with the Australian national team, the Boomers. So he is familiar with Simmons, Exum, Adams, Baynes, Dellavedova, Bogut, Mills, Ingles, Bolden, Broekhoff, Maker, etc. https://www.sportingnews.com/au/nba...ing-2019-20-season/1lxsgbrisjw1l1bzlm1cmecd64 Was not aware that Thybulle was an Aussie. https://pickandroll.com.au/p/current-aussies-in-the-nba The best player on Weaver's Sydney Kings was Casper Ware who had a cup of coffee with the Rockets. https://www.thedreamshake.com/2013/7/6/4491974/rockets-release-summer-league-roster
What are your thoughts about the coaching staff now? I know recently you said rockets where behind a lot of teams what about now? Silas Lucas Jeff horny lol Weaver Higgins
He is an excellent hire. He will be working on the defense, which is his strong suit. He is solid on offense as well. Very bright and intense guy, should work well with Silas and is considered another guy that prepares really well. He will be a head coach soon.
I hope the Rockets keep Brase but overall their coaching staff is the best in a number of years. They aren’t big names but guys like Silas and Weaver are on the cutting edge and can coach both offense and defense. They have done a good job putting the staff together, especially getting a late start. It isn’t a top 5 staff but it is in the top half and has upside.
Why? All of the top basketball innovation the last 5-8 years has come from the G-League and overseas. Coaches are able to experiment in the G-League and they are learning many things that they do not learn in the NBA. Weaver is an excellent coach with a lot of diverse experience and can coach defense at a high level. He is very intense and is a perfectionist. Guys like Nick Nurse and Nate Bjorken and Taylor Jenkins and Mark Daigneault and Quin Synder all were not household names and all are very innovative and know complicated schemes because of the G-League and coaching overseas. Weaver is a FAR better hire than Nate McMillan or other options. Also, Weaver expects a lot out of his players and can get animated at times.
He did, he really did. Two months ago. Give this man credit : https://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.ph...h-guide-2020-2021.307286/page-8#post-13122585
Hopefully these hires are being made with a post-Harden era in mind. At some point, you have to start writing a new chapter.
