Yang is not remotely qualified to be TreasSec. He's a smart business man and has a very simple, creative idea that he built a campaign on, but he has no background in international finance or any of other stuff you need experience with for this position. You don't want the typical Goldman shmuck in there, but I would put someone like a Janet Yellen or an SEC/FDIC chair in there assuming Biden goes non-politician (TreasSec is usually not a political figure due to the need for expertise). Warren has a solid finance background, so I could see her being an exception, if not for the GOP Governor problem. I do think a left-leaning SecTreas would be a huge positive to shift the US away from its typical Wall Street focus.
Bernie needs to stay in the Senate for a bit. I would still like to hire very smart people with very serious qualifications for all of these posts, including all the Deputies and so forth. eta: but to @Major's point above, you can't put people in positions just because of their voting draw...but you could certainly put someone like Yang in a public position (maybe not Cabinet?) where his qualities would be the most useful. Undersecretary of Straightening Out Online Bullsh!t?
I like Susan Rice as Sec. of State. Warren for Treasury. The easiest position on which to improve will be Sec. of Education. Almost anyone would be better.
Do you think he would do that, or stay with the electorate until the seat comes up for election? (I'm assuming '22) Hadn't thought about that, I admittedly know nothing about Mass politics.
It won’t be Warren. The rumors are Brainard who is at the fed right now and Fink the ceo BlackRock. here’s a pretty good guesswork piece about some of the candidates for various positions https://www.politico.com/news/2020/11/07/joe-biden-cabinet-picks-possible-choices-433431
Has Biden given any indication that Stacey Abrams could join his cabinet? Or is that just voices from his fans here lol
She's smart as hell and she's a moderate Republican. I'm not sure what position to offer her, but I like the idea. We can't afford to lose a senator right now, unless a Democratic governor could appoint an immediate replacement. That depends on the senator and the way a particular state handles it. That varies from state to state. Pete Buttigieg deserves a good position in Biden's administration, in my opinion. So is Andrew Yang. Elizabeth Warren would be a good addition, but she's a senator. I know Bernie would like to be Labor Secretary. I'm not against it, but he's also a senator. There are lots of talented Democrats and independents to chose from. I expect President Biden to have droves of that talent eager to serve in his administration in a host of different positions.
Communication director with a press secretary reporting to her -- I always have had the feeling she'd rather be in high level politics/ White House than a talk show. Fiona Hill some high level diplomatic or intelligence position.
So... who is gonna be the first Biden cabinet or White House official to be fired or arrested or resign?
