Eta has absolutely exploded in the last 24 hours. Take a look. Recon is rushing down now and will be there soon. They are estimating 150 mph sustained right now but there is no doubt in my mind that this is a cat 5. It actually looks like it could be an all time record breaker for the atlantic and it's crazy to think it's November. Once this landfalls the models have it restrengthening and possibly hitting florida as a strong hurricane though of course not nearly as strong as it is now.
Atlantic Daily Briefing Issued: 05:02 AM CST Tuesday November 03, 2020 Active Systems Eta Hurricane Eta will move ashore this morning into northern Nicaragua. It is a powerful 150 mph hurricane. Destructive wind and dangerous storm surge are likely. The storm will weaken quickly as it tracks inland. Despite weakening, a prolonged heavy rainfall event over much of Central America will result in a widespread significant flood risk. By the weekend into early next week, the system is expected to track northeastward and back over the waters of the western Caribbean. The confidence in the forecast next week is quite low. Eta is not expected to directly impact the northwestern Gulf of Mexico. Other Disturbances / Areas to Watch None.
Eta coming to bite 'Murica in the dick. Atlantic Daily Briefing Issued: 04:26 AM CST Thursday November 05, 2020 Active Systems Eta Eta has weakened to a tropical depression over Honduras. It is moving slowly to the northwest. A turn to the north and northeast is expected later today into tonight, which will take the system back over the Caribbean. While Eta will likely weaken to a remnant low later today, the system is forecast to regain tropical storm intensity when it moves back over the Caribbean on Saturday. Despite weakening, flooding rainfall continues over Central America. We think Eta will move across Cuba and the Florida Keys as tropical storm Sunday into Monday. The system may then meander just west of the Florida Peninsula for much of next week. Our forecast confidence is very low beyond this weekend.
