It was interesting watching the post game shows. the broadcasters tried to mention the Astros as little as possible. We were called “underdog” at one point. We present a “different challenge” than the Yankees, because we will put the ball in play and run. 90% of the talk was about the Rays, even when specifically addressing the upcoming series. The broadcasters seemed...timid. None of them wanted to talk about the Astros, but none of them wanted to go on record saying the Rays would beat us. I also thought it was weird that this mess of a season was seen as more indicative of our potential than our championship experience, dominance of the AL over the last half decade, and recent offensive explosion. we might lose, but part of me wants to see all these people called out if we can pull off the win.
Not really. We’ve been here before. And if we were you lose to the Yankees, we’d be getting hell from them all season especially if they won the WS. But I think even just getting back to the ALCS after those performances by Correa and Springer shut down a lot of the haters. Not all, but a lot. They’ve been mostly reduced to “but... but.... the buzzers!! Uhhh... Rays are America’s team now! Please don’t disappoint me like the Twins and A’s!’’
Silly me. I thought when you were talking about the "stakes" you meant things that actually matter...like a trip to the World Series. The best thing about the Rays winning is that I can root for whoever comes out of the AL against whoever comes out of the NL. That and it's always good to see the Yankees lose, but I just don't understand this fear of what idiots on the internet would have said if the Stros had lost to them. **** those people, and Stros fans should have thicker skin by now.
Not being a homer, but I think they have a great chance at beating the Rays. Both snell and glasshouse or whatever he calls himself accused the stros of stealing their signs. They were tipping their pitches. I say make them think you're doing it again and get them paranoid. Dodgers. Yeah I don't see any possible way of beating them with the injuries to the pitching staff. But that's why they play the games. One game at a time.
I would say temporarily silenced. Looking at this from their (The Haters) point of view. The Astros only got to the playoffs because of the 2020 pandemic wildcard playoff weirdness that allowed sub .500 teams to play. So for them, we shouldn't have (wouldn't have) been there (in the playoffs) to begin with. But ok, they got there. They wont get far. Minny will take them out, then we can do our "See, see, they aint squat without their trash cans". But the Astros won. Alright, the A's will kick their ass, (repeat the above). But the Astros won. Now comes TB. Hmmm. The Astros are playing really well. Damn them! ------------ ------------ -------------- -------------- -------------- -------------- ------------- They have been waiting for their moment to push us under the dirt and it didn't come. While some may abandon their anger towards the Astros, some of those remaining will be even more pissed. Much depends now on how much farther we go.
This. I only care so much outside of the Astros but the only team left that I really don’t want to win is the Dodgers. Them coming up empty again would be very sweet.
Oh yeah, I'm absolutely a Braves fan right now. As much as I want to, they're a tough team to hate and a very fun team to watch.
I think the Rays should be the favorite. But at this point, you'd think opponents would learn to shut their mouths. Say, "they're a good team and it will be a dogfight" and move on.
Yep, we’ve got no one. Don’t even worry about the scouting reports or watching video...we’ve got no chance.
