Lol at suggesting a gm should be fired bc he got rid of Morris, ppat, Beasley and Isiah freaking cannon Also way to have circular arguments. Mad cause he drafted Morris and mad cause he traded him. Mad cause he got rid of players during the season (morris) but mad bc he didn't trade a key player during a playoff run (asik) Just look at rockets post hakeem and pre morey and during moreys run. Has he made mistakes? Ofcourse! But he has kept this team as a contender on the fly even while losing yao, tmac and creating harden trade out of nothing.
Morey got lucky with harden. He ain’t in the same stratosphere as the top guys like Riley, presti, ainge, myers Masai etc. At BEST morey is a middle of the pack GM. Getting talent but overpaying to do so(except when he got lucky on harden). He’s bad at drafting and keeping the young guys we actually draft well on, and keeps including picks to save the owner money...
I think folks here drank the koolaid too soon. I think he is a specialist and a good enough GM. Morey is IMO not an Allround talented GM, he does certain aspects very well, Moreyball isn't bad, it's just too extreme. Just do not expect him to draft perfectly, he is also giving picks away too easily. He suffers from having good relations with only a few teams, that limits the numbers of trade partners and nobody wants to be fleeced.
Do you think House made a difference? Clark plays similar to Covington but that delusional to keep a player that is on a nothing contract. It’s a better option then trading not only one of starters but a FRP that is desperately needed to rid us of the overwhelming bad contract that was handed out last offseason. Yes Covington > Clark but we never gave GC a chance to grow. He in the Magic’s rotation (they are loaded with bigs) and even gets a start when needed. Gary Clark is a NBA player that is better than a 1/2 of our current roster. That is delusional. It is definitely delusional to cut your FRP after 2 years of development where he found success in the league where the organization chose to put him. He was cut after showing up early to practice to review film. No return on him just cut. The gimmick defense and offense of the lame duck coach probably wasn’t a fit so he was fired. What a delusional waste of time and opportunity. “The superstars get the team to the playoffs but the role players win championships” Shaq
That all happened a year early because his contract still had a year left on it at a nominal fee. So yes I hated at the time. One more year of all star level play at g league pay scale —> most fans would like a rotation full of that.
There are multiple threads through out Paul's tenure in Houston that giving up Beverly and Harrell alone were too much for him. It's all about the luck of the draw. What impressed me is that Paul was ready to go in the gimmicky bubbles Playoffs and didn't let himself go like most players did and come play not in the best shape.
It's not even just that, the Heat we're practically trying to dump Dragic before the season started but nobody even made an offer. His resurgence this year has been phenomenal. Also, this thread is logically sound but after all the drama OP started about not getting Melo a few years back, I'm sorry but I can't take anything they say seriously anymore.
Morey was obsessed with acquiring three superstars(remember that?). I’ve never believed in the three superstar requirement. Never in my life have I seen a team lose so many players through trade, free agency, or outright release and then want them back as the Rockets. The list of players is ridiculously long. We don’t seem to understand what we have until the player is gone.
. Pretty sure Les wanted to keep making money off China market and forced Morey to get Lin eventhouvh Dragic was better player.
