To me, his primary failing is that he gets rattled easily. And often when that happens, he falls apart. As a starter, there is at least the opportunity to recover. Gather himself, and maybe come back the next inning back on track. As a closer, it will be more boom or bust. If and when he ever gets a handle on his emotions, he could be an excellent closer.
Yes, and this frustrates the hell out of me. You can see it happening in real time. This is his 1st year back from TJ, everyone has always said it'll take a year of pitching to get right, so I'm cutting him a whole lot of slack this year.
This is why I say. The hope is this . McCullers and Blielak plus a PTBNL ship him and alittle more to th Braves in the Offseason for Drew WATERS. Biagini should be DFAd Devenski should be DFAd Sneed back to the Minors That means at the minimum we need atleast 3 Bullpen guys in FA.
Still nursing his injury is what I've heard. At this point I've lost a lot of faith in him. Upside still there but his floor is getting lower and lower.
My thoughts on Whitley. Next Spring training is his last shot to make this club before with out a shadow of a doubt needs to make the team or becomes trade fodder. There are other guys whom we can get or are waiting for him to move out the way. He pisses or gets of the pot. At this point in his career. Before he loses all trade value
Yea... WRONG. He's 22. You realize Framber is 26 now when he finally figured some stuff out? Javier is 23. Blake Taylor is 25. Paredes is 24. Urquidy is 25. His upside far outweighs his current value as a trade piece.
Wrong? He has been this untouchable prospect for what 3yrs. Supposed to be this wow SP. First good year Second injury Third injury Hmmm. Kinda thing that not telling all the bad starts in yr 2 and 3. Some times you gotta tempt fate
I say give Whitley more time. His current progress is disappointing but so was Tucker’s when he first started. Really hoping it just clicks soon
