I think this man deserves a separate thread ... He played 37 minutes in game 2 and once again was crucial. I remember in one play we were down by 3 and Harden wasn’t on the court, he went all the way to the rim finishing in traffic to keep us in it. One play he sunk a three from Harden’s behind the back pass to tie the game at 83. Then he was also critical in the 17-0 run. And he is also bringing the ball down for Harden. He can drive and shoot. I can’t say enough about him. I know it’s all about matchups and he probably benefits from that in this series. But still considering we have him at minimum, he has performed way beyond his contract, he deserves a lot of props.
Someone on the internet was telling me that Jeff Green has these type of stretches were he looks like he should be making 100 million dollars then he goes into massive slump so we shouldn't get to excited; other teams have seen this from him before. I think he is going to be different here. I think his production is sustainable. Even if he goes into a shooting slump, his defense on small quick guards is not going away, or his ability to handle the ball and attack the basket coast to coast. Once again the Rockets have unlocked a couch player.
He gives us more than 5 points and 2 rebs a game, he would outperform his contract. The bar is pretty low
I think his play is really sustainable. A lot of his plays are hustle motivated. He’s not a lights out shooter, but it’s respectable enough not to play off of him. I love this acquisition.
It’s incredible to watch him bring the ball up in a playoff game! Steal of the year. Morey strikes again! Green is balling!
Imagine your star player and your head coach having 0 problem with vet min buyout guy handling the ball in key situations. Huge amount of trust there , gotta give credit to MDA and james ( and of course Jeff for delivering) must be that veteran experience
I can't believe noone has credited Coach D'antoni for unlocking Green. His wife open system, along with the encouragement to play freely and naturally, without fear of a quick hook for making instinctive plays, has a proven positive effect on many players. Utilizing Green as a point center was a move that takes pressure off of Harden, allowing him to play off the ball some and not exert energy every time down court. Additionally, it pulls their 5 further out of the paint - something, if used with Westbrook as well, will continue to pay dividends. Kudos Coach!
