Treasure him while you can guys. Collect the montage from this half. The frustration will ensue for the next 5 games before another okay game.
Unfortunately the Austin Rivers that sucked seems to have returned. His 3pt% is in danger of sinking below 30%. Get this, the Rockets have a +9.8 net rating when he's OFF the court. If Morey can strengthen the bench so Rivers doesn't have to play heavy minutes, that will benefit all parties.
oh dam i didn't know there's a thread like this. we should make a " grown to hate thread" for each Rockets player
Rivers made sense when we had Chris Paul. He was the guy that would take up the minutes. He doesn't make sense anymore. Either he or gordon is trade bait and I think only Austin is tradable.
Austin won't get us much because he's essentially on a minimum contract. Also, if Austin goes we are short a back up PG.
Rivers comes in as a defensive specialist to put on good to elite point guards on defense. Point guards will try to get a switch to iso a Rocket big on the perimeter or a less pesky defender. Without the usual Rockets fast breaks point now and again a lot of players like Rivers and House are standing around on offense majority of the time. Every now and again these guys need to drive to the basket or cut to the basket in addition to standing on the perimeter waiting for an open three. They are in a funk right now (in their recent shooting), but some more drives for lay ups, cuts to the basket and some dunks may get them going.
He had a nice half year last season, but sadly he looks like he's back to "scrub status" this season. Oh well.
Outside of Westbrook, the rest of team energy just says I don't like playing in this type of basketball. Standing around watching James jack up shots until he gets his game going or wait for James to throw me the ball. Hopefully in time to something with the basketball. Then I have to hustle on defense to switch to his man as he stays near the paint to rebound (negative)... So I can't blame the Houses, Rivers, Gordon, and Tucker.
Yup couldn’t agree more, but Rivers had some easy bunnies last night that he flat out missed and also didn’t play very good D while in either, some dumb fouls yeah not a good night for him especially. But I agree with your above take, its great when it works when it doesn’t it’s a ugly system to watch and I would bet super frustrating to play in as you allude too.
I agree, as a professional making millions for playing a kids game. Rivers needs to make those shots. House was very lackadaisical on defense and got pushed around. The little PG didn't look good either in his short stint. I understand why Morey is trying to trade for Covington. I would give him House and Rivers in a NY minute. Is it that hard to have ball movement, screens, cuts, etc.. We've built a monster in James and can't deprogram him to play championship basketball. James plays NBA basketball like summer league basketball. Go one on one, get tired, throw the ball to someone else, get my energy back up and get the ball again. I don't care how many allstars we trade for, this will not work with one man dominating the basketball and taking a majority of the shots every night.
Uneducated, insensitive, hot tempered folks who simply either don’t understand basketball, never played a sport in their lives, or judgmental. Like I said in a lot of my posts. If someone watches a video of you performing at your cozy corporate job or labor job what world they say? How would you feel if these people criticize every little thing? Things they have little information or knowledge about? What if they advocate your bosses firing you? What if they said you sucked even though you’ve been a professional for years or managing for years involved in hugely successful campaigns and projects yet they still say you suck? How would you feel? Ok well then shut up. Get outta my face with your bullshit.
