We are definitely going to be feeling it in a couple of years, if not sooner - it was an all-in move while James is in his prime. But I don't think it's fair to claim him as a victim to father time yet, when 6 months ago we were a hamstring away from a finals appearance. If he's still playing like this come February then I'll be worried.
So he's playing like **** because the league used to start the season later in the year? C'mon man. You can come up with as many excuses as you'd like but his play speaks for itself. He sucked before anyone was talking abt this debilitating elbow or wrist or whatever it is injury and was showing signs of his decline last season as well. Morey gambled that he had a few yrs left as an elite player but the truth is that he doesn't. He'll have the occasional throwback game and play well, but the CP3 that used to kill teams night in and night out no longer exist.
Just 5 months ago he was a top 15 player in the league. Obviously hindsight is 20/20. If he had just a normal decline the contract would be fine until the last year or maybe two. His immediate and abrupt decline is truly baffling. Clearly Morey knows that it's a bad contract, but a handshake agreement was made and we almost (should have) gotten a ring out of it.
It happens to all players. Father time is undefeated. It happen to Kobe. It happen to Hakeem. I happened to jordan. Its going to happen to lebron at some point, but there is a big drop off at some point.
Too bad the CP3 contract wasn't as incentive loaded as Capela's. Should've added big time incentives for games played and production in the latter years.
Cp3 is the head of players union. He isn't a dumb. No way he takes that deal. If capella had a better agent he wouldn't have taken that deal.
There was a reason that LAC did not want to pay him, so let the rockets new owner do it. Even former owner Les sold the team before paying him. The same logic point can go for Butler who some clutchfans are dreaming to get him, but the problem is that the Butler contract is either more toxic, or he is going to leave for NY after this year. Clutchfans, you can not just make a right call.
Too early for this. The shot will come around and we all know the season is a marathon rather than a sprint.
lac didn't want to pay him? i guess alternative facts it's more like he didn't want them to and he left them
lol bad officiating doesnt make ELITE basketball player a bad one and utterly biased refs cant make point god a bad player.... he was WCF MVP and that makes him finals MVP...because we talking about basketball play on the court not WWE...yeah he wasnt handed that trophy but it was his for all practical purposes
40 mil a year for a 33 year old with a big injury history is and was a big gamble. Right now the gamble is not paying off. If CP3 can't pick it up like last year then the season will be a fight for the 8th seed.
We just need to have him healty in the playoffs tbh, but we can't exactly take that for granted, we already learned something about this. Anyway, another reason why getting Butler would help, big insurance in case CP3 has problems.
