Even if Jeff had family problems, Tillman should have given Jeff enough money to no longer care about his family. Maybe hire someone to babysit Jeff's family while Jeff concentrates on what is actually important in life.
I read the EspN article. It seems to me that it was serious to point where Jeff can't even join the team until after Thanksgiving. He definitely made the right decision to put Family first. If I were Tilman I would make the offer to have him do the Bill and Clyde package. Just have him coach for training camps, home practices, and home games. He would be far more likely to stay on board if he didn't have to travel.
