Saw it yesterday, loved it. Remi Malek is amazing as Freddie Mercury. It was funny, sad, and uplifting with great music. Go see it. DD
is this where we can discuss the movie without spoiler tags? @mikol13 gave it positive reviews in the movie thread.
Bohemian Rhapsody feels like dirty pool. Either one of the next two things are true: Either the surviving members of Queen still resent the fact that so much of their legacy is wrapped up in Freddie Mercury that they had to make this revisionist history of a movie, or the surviving members are so cinematically tone deaf they inadvertently made a movie that sure comes off like that’s what they were trying to do. I think what I'd say is: if you just love the music, you will love it. If you're looking for any sort of factual biography....nope
The focus is on everyone but Freddy Mercury does stand out as he should. Im not sure what the actual history of the group is but I very much enjoyed the movie.
I honestly couldn’t tell you their names even though I saw the movie Friday. (Ok, except Brian May.) Their personal lives are not explored at all, nor should they be. The movie was great. I’m not the world’s biggest Queen fan (music is a little too cute for me), but I love rock biopics and this was easily the best since Straight Outta Compton. Looking forward to Elton John next.
I thought it was pretty good although a bit sanitized. The Live Aid scene was truly magical. 4/5 Spoiler Actually surprised SJWs haven't attacked this movie by making the gay club scene (Another One Bites the Dust) seem evil like they did in Steve McQueen's movie Shame
4/5 Movie is great. Malek is awesome. For the most part its factually correct with the important stuff. There is some Hollywood fluff in there that I took to be used for speeding up the timeline. I enjoyed it. Now I cant get Radio GaGa out of my head. Been whistling it all day.
i plan on catching it sometime next after next week. wonder how long remi malek's voice lessons were to sound like freddie.
