Part of it is the multi-year control, but the other part is Pressly’s stuff fits with the Astros high spin rate philosophy. His curve has the 2nd highest spin rate, 4 seamer 7th best and slider 16th best. This is a perfect Brent Strom project to make him better than he already is. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/07/twins-trade-rumors-ryan-pressly.html
NYY: 2 games, 2 innings, no runs Cle: 4 games, 4 innings, 2 runs (came in one outing where he got no outs) BOS: 1 game. 1/3 inning, 3 earned runs
The part of the interview where he was asked if he knows anyone from the Astros reminded me, we have Buddy Boshers in AAA, a lefty reliever who formerly played for the Twins. He's been doing well in AAA, when do you think we give him a shot? And would he be a legit possibility for the playoff roster?
Not sure where we are going to put him. With the best bullpen in baseball, there just isn’t room for him.
Alcala and Celestino were not going to help the Astros w/in the next 3 years, if ever. Pressly can. This is why you build a deep farm system and hire good evaluators to replenish it. Harris has 1 option left, Devo has at least 1.
It was sarcasm... we can use him. If I’m Harris’ agent I am thinking the addition of Pressly makes it even less likely my option is picked up. Alcala throws really hard but isn’t a pitcher.
Oh I know. I was being totally serious. Perez knows what MLB's all about, now he gets to go work on it until September. Also, nice Jaime Pressly softcore posters in the amazon ads.
