I have had Maine-ly twice and they were very different experiences. Once was at their food truck at the Super Bowl experience at Discovery Green and it was AMAZING. I went to their location on Shepherd a few months later and it was bland. I went at an off time so maybe it wasn't fresh. Judging by the reviews I think the first time is closer to the norm. It is worth a visit. Be sure to check out Groupon first, they have deals on there all the time.
Every time someone mentions a sandwich on here I think about journeys and finding the perfect club sandwich. Then someone mentions eggs and I think about the perfect eggs benedict. And I get thirsty. So I dream about cocktails.
I work on 1960, pretty close to Veteran's Memorial/Stubner Airline. Anyone know of a good sub shop in that area? There's a Jersey Mike's (not bad) and a Jimmy John's (shouldn't even be called food), but nothing really good. Haven't tried any of the Vietnamese places on Veterans... waiting for a recommendation.
Have you been to Roostar? Their Banh Mi's are amazing! https://www.yelp.com/biz/roostar-vietnamese-grill-houston-2
Big Alwadi fan... that's a great spot. There's a great Vietnamese place called Ba Mien Bistro that I frequent, too. Good bahn mi and excellent pho. I also like Taqueria Perla de Jalisco. Good, simple, cheap Jalisco Mexican. There are plenty of good spots around here but very few non-chain sandwich places. I was really craving a cheesteak today.
