The Chinese Billionaires are going to come hard at this. p.s. y'all took Les for granted. You may soon regret that.
I'll throw an interesting name in the hat.... Dr. Dre and/or Jimmy I. With the Apple deal landing them a few bil, they may look to transfer their assets to another business venture like a sports team, and Dre had interest in the Clippers before, but he hadn't sold Beats at the time which netted him a pretty penny.
I didn't realize that Fertitta was already an Advisor Director for the Rockets. Not sure whet he really does, but he clearly already has some relationship with the team.
He used to be a minority owner, but that was before he teamed up with John Moores (I think) to buy the Rockets before Les "outbid" him. From what I recall that whole situation ended kind of ugly between Fertitta and Charlie Thomas.
It was his idea to put the tallest escalator in Houston in Toyota Center. The original design was to include a Waterfall and Gorilla cage, but they decided to put that in the Summit, instead. Spoiler I totally forgot he's on the Rockets advisory board. I think that was the time of the switch to TC. I always figured he was advising on the food court stuff.
If a Yao led (frontman) group bids I'm sure they would get serious interest, with the league wanting more Chinese connections and his ties to the franchise.
My sister is best friends (and old roommates) with Jimmy's daughter so I know them fairly well... don't think he would be interested. And even if he was, he isn't nearly liquid enough.
Nah, I am thinking the Chinese will be cautious because the President has curbed their spending enthusiasm in the recent past. That said, we can't fully exclude this possibilty.
can a person own 2 nba teams? what if cuban bids? he'd trade with himself to move beard to dallas i'm sure.
