From codman To sum in up... Spoiler Carmelo, Speights, Tyson Chandler (Bledsoe/Knight), CJ Miles, Thad Young, Monte Ellis, Vucevic, Jeff Green, EPayton, Jennings, Joe Johnson, Wade, McGee are all being watched/in talks for Houston. + Anderson as trade bait in 3way deal
Regardless of what actually ends up happening, we can see pretty clearly Morey is not just sitting and hoping for Melo. He is sitting there designing a monster, with depth, with various options. I suspect we will still get 3 more rotation players at the end of it. One thing that concerns me: we are looking at slower players. We need some guys who can run in transition. Harden, Melo, Ariza aren't beating their man down the floor. We were good enough offensively without having it last season, but it would be nice to get someone like that off the bench.
Gordon as "junk" in a 3way deal also doesn't make sense, and Cod has said many times lately we are going to be trading Anderson in a 3 way deal lately. I think he's just saying Anderson isn't good enough to be a starter. I doubt it, but it would suck if he's talking about Gordon.
Out of this list I like everyone except Ellis, Vucevic, J Green, JJ, Jennings. Melo and Speights are my top 2, though Wade would be great, too.
Lord knows that free agency will change in the next 7 hours, so I'm gonna go take my meds and sleep a little bit. I tried to be much less cryptic tonight, but that may change depending the teams/individuals that don't like their business out here. Oh well, we're the best fans around, right? I'm out for the night, but I'll say it again--- I'm hearing really positive information that this "superstar" we're looking for will turn out to be: 1. Melo 2.Kevin That's not a confirmation, but I feel as though it's as close as when I named our Freebird additions in FlyRy/ Ego/Lou last year. The coolest perspective is that we have a roster of guys that are all very well liked and seem to be focused on recruiting a "family" to win. We have more guys with ties to Melo than any other team. Our only competition is Cleveland, but again, NY doesn't want Kevin Love because of KP. Mel's not my fav, but he gives us a chance to do something special with CP/James/PJ/Trev and some secret pieces that will be part of the new fam. Okay, I'm spent (really this time) You all have a good night. I'm sorry for posting a lot today. Being sick/stuck in the house causes higher BBS use. Apologies to Clutch/CF crew. Goodnight. Stay Melo or Make Love. ***Or make my personal FA dream come true and have Morey sign Jamychal Green. That guy is going to be deadly-clutch.
Thanks Codman. Please take care of yourself! Your health is much much more important than bball in the scheme of things.
Thanks codman, you give us all hope Honestly if we do a 3 way trade where cavs get Melo and we get love is kinda counter productive. I think it helps the cavs but doesn't really benefit us in the championship race
I would go after Love over Melo. Melo is a better primary scorer, but I think Love is better in most other respects. Also younger and $4M or so cheaper, which matters given the Rockets are hard-capped, and is easier to work out in terms of salary matching. If, as Codman says, NYK doesn't want either Love or Anderson in return, how about a 3-way deal with NYK getting Eric Gordon + Shumpert, Houston getting Love and Cleveland getting Melo + Houston's non-guaranteed guys? Works cap-wise, maybe throw in some picks to balance the value. Am I being too much of a homer?
Hey Cod, I wonder if you hear anything from Denver. The guys in Dunc'd on said that a Denver consolidation trade is imminent. Faried, Lyles, Barton and Chandler could all be available..
Gallo will not come back to Denver. This is regardless of where he ends up though they said Denver may target Dekker in a s+t since the Clippers don't have enough space to sign him and need Denver's help.
Don't ever be sorry for posting on here. You're awesome man. We all enjoy your information and care about your health.
Codman is a trooper. He is the fearless leader leading our free agency battle despite being severely ill. Get well soon brother!
At the end of the day, Carmelo Anthony cannot play for the Knicks next year. He has an early termination option next year, he wants out, and there's clearly a rift between him and Porzingis. I think they may just end up taking Anderson and our ghetto trade exception just because Anderson's contract may be something they can use in a trade down the road. Anderson's contract is bad for this season, but it's less offensive as a 2 year deal or an expiring deal.
