I can't envision a scenario where Hollins would be the best candidate in Morey's eyes. The guy was fired from Memphis specifically because he hated analytics. I'm sure Morey wants a guy who is willing to accept the analytic information Morey brings to them. Joerger, Vogel, and JVG are all guys who will look at the numbers. Hollins will not.

This won't affect Mike Conley's free agency. Conley wasn't particularly close with Joerger. He was successful under him, and will only say good things about him in the days and weeks to come. But this is not a situation where Joerger signs with the Kings and suddenly Conley wants to follow him. Conley was just as much a part of the team's resistance to Joerger's advanced offensive concepts as anyone, and the team will of course consult with Conley as to what he wants in a coach should he decide to re-sign in Memphis. No. Everyone keeps naming this defensive-minded, slow down coaches. We need an offensive minded coach that runs a motion offense. It is the way the league is going. Unless Morey is going to actually get 2-3 of the top 8-10 best players in the NBA right now, it is the only way to have a legit shot at a title.
He is a coach that does more with less. Just the opposite of our last two coaches. While I would be happy with Vogel or JVG as a consolation prize, I'd want Joerger as my first choice. Hopefully we aren't too careful or deliberate and someone else (Kings) grabs him first.
Don't get your hopes up...Rockets ALWAYS miss out! Joerger will sign with Kings. Vogel will sign with Knicks and JVG will stay retired!
