David Thorpe thinks so. He is pretty annoying for opposing point guards. http://espn.go.com/nba/notebook/_/page/DPOY1314/2013-14-defensive-player-year
DPOY? Seriously? Beside Bev's man-on-man defense being a bit TOO overrated on these boards (from what I call the Jordan Hill or Toney Douglas hustle effect), if a non-big was going to win the DPOY this season...you don't think Lebron would be the only choice? I'm still reeling from the fact that LBJ didn't win it last year!
The man (Thorpe) knows his basketball, but this is a stretch since we all know that the end of season awards is for the most part a popularity contest. I'm thinking he did it just to get some people to take notice of Trinidad James.
LeBron is really overrated as a defender. He got cooked countless times in the playoffs last year and didn't even guard the best players all the time.
Hibbert looks pissed that he only got 3 votes. Dwight is happy for the support of the experts. Omer and Pat Bev each got one vote. Nice. This team better defend with 3 DPOY nominees in its rotation. 3 likely Rockets starters on there. The team seems likely to star the defense-heavy lineup of Bev+Asik next to Parsons, Harden and Howard, then bring in the offensive firepower/shooting with Lin+Casspi after the starters rough up the opponents for 7 or 8 minutes.
