Chuck Hagel is a Republican I would vote for.

"The Iraq war should not be debated in the United States on a partisan political platform," the Nebraska senator remarked. "This debases our country, trivializes the seriousness of war and cheapens the service and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform. War is not a Republican or Democrat issue. The casualties of war are from both parties. The Bush Administration must understand that each American has a right to question our policies in Iraq and should not be demonized for disagreeing with them. Suggesting that to challenge or criticize policy is undermining and hurting our troops is not democracy nor what this country has stood for, for over 200 years. The Democrats have an obligation to challenge in a serious and responsible manner, offering solutions and alternatives to the Administration’s policies."

Even McCain to some extent is pro-choice. His stance has been that abortion should be illegal except in cases in which the mother's health is threatened, and incest/rape etc.. Also, he's on record as saying that overturning Roe v. Wade would be a gigantic blunder that would ruin lives of women who need abortions because of extenuating circumstances. This position isn't exactly pro-choice but its enough to probably anger many in the more conservative/religious right section of the Republican Party.

Would that be a partisan attack that Hagel warned against?

If Hillary runs, against mccain/rudy, feels dirty to say it, but I'll be voting for the republicans. However, I don't think the Reds will push a moderate ballot unless they lose major ground in the 2006 elections.

Unless the senate turns blue, I wouldn't be surprised if Jeb Bush and Condi ran. And if Condi runs, damn is this forum going to look ugly with the far right people consistently accusing non-righties of being against her because of race.

Republican Senator Chuck Hagel: "Things aren't getting better; they're getting worse. The White House is completely disconnected from reality. It's like they're just making it up as they go along. The reality is that we're losing in Iraq."

Looks like he agrees with Dean... hmm.

I'm pulling for a real race-

Republican Ticket- Mel Gibson/ Dr. Phil

    vs.

    Democrat Ticket- Bono/ Oprah

    Wouldn't that be more fun?

The whole campaign could be a 'reality' show.

Think of the campaign platforms- save the family vs. save the world.

I googled a list of well know Republicans and found this-

Based on your list and some quick archived Nielsen ratings research, I believe the Republicans best bet in 2008 will be a ticket comprised of Jim Nabors & Tony Danza.

I know that some of that list aren't actually republicans. That may be a list of people who have publically supported Republican candidates at one time or another, but I know at least two of them are definitely not Republicans.

Look at all these moderate republicans.

Rudy is Pro choice as someone else pointed out. Have people not been paying attention to who runs the Rep. party? Bush couldn't get a court nominee through because his party couldn't take his word for it that she was pro-choice.

McCain is a moderate. not a chance in hell. I do think that ticket would win if they could get through the primary, but I don't see how such a ticket would happen.

Lieberman cost Gore the election because many parts of the country just couldn't vote for a Jew. Sad but true.

Not only is he pro choice, he's also pro gay rights. And an adulterer. All people really know about him is 911. Once they find out about his past, the wingnuts won't have anything to do with him.

Yeah- the list probably came from something like obscure contribution records- you get all kind of stuff when googling.

I doubt that anyone on the religious side has a problem with incest/rape situations. As for the mother's life being threatened, that might be a problem, but I cant see it being large enough of a pothole. We need someone like McCain with his credibility and honesty to help us forget the highest spending administration in history.
