It's worked fine for me. But I've only had it a year so I can't attest to whether or not it will last. I don't see why it wouldn't. It's cheaper than the other models but the equipment seems basic enough that I wouldn't see why it would break down.
This is my first water softener and I really like the entire concept and it's worked out as promised.
And no, I didn't get the under the sink system.
