Man that's a tough ****ing call. I'd lean Yankees sucking this year and Dodgers getting bounced in round 1. Go Padres indeed lol.

Not sure who is impersonating who, but the Yankees and Astros have similar problems and similar records and trends. Both teams suffering on the road which usually isnt the case for either for instance.

I suppose we are in a weaker division, so grabbing 2nd place in our division will be a bit easier for us than the Yankees.

Neither of these teams can afford another prolonged losing streak. The end of the regular season is too near to recover from it.

If you really look hard at the Astros losses during this losing streak, there's a lot more optimism that this is just an awful bad luck run vs. a sign that this is just a bad team.

McCullers not getting out of the first was pretty crappy... but not the norm. Had a trickle down effect of putting all bullpen pitchers on notice, and eventually Dusty makes the mistake of using Pressly in a tie game (vs. saving him for the double header). Then the double header features two blown saves of 2 run leads... would presume Pressly (if available) would have been able to hold at least one. Then you have Framber blow a 4-0 lead, uncharacteristic of him.

In the end, they have as good a chance of anybody in this farce of a season... presuming they get the regular lineup back (once Altuve's testicle heals), and Bregman gets back to form.

In MLB's unusual 2020 season, the Astros and Yankees are letting expected bottom-dwellers hang in playoff race

I think Luke Voit summed it up best about their incredible lack of swagger these last 20 games.

"I feel like teams aren't really scared of us right now and it's kind of a sad thing because we're the New York Yankees," he said postgame (via NJ.com's Brendan Kuty).

Voit's arrogance in this pompous statement is a perfect illustration to what I hate most about the Yankees.

Brewers starter gave up 1 hit in 7 IP with 11K, 0BB. They scored 19 runs (all earned) on 21 hits (7 BB, 8 2B and 5 HR), 10-20 with RISP. Tigers threw 199 pitches.

That's pretty much as big an asskicking as you'll ever see.

Most total runs in a 9-inning game in the modern era.

Bryse Wilson of the Braves entered with a 22-8 lead, pitched 4 innings of 1 run ball, and earned a save.

Can they pass some of those runs the Astros way? That would hold us over for about 4-5 games ;)

In other news, Padres won, Dodgers lost, so San Diego picks up a game on them, now 3.5 GB.

Got to root for Jordan Lyles and the Rangers vs Mike F#cking Fiers and the A's tonight. At least its a Ranger home game where they have managed a .500 record.

    Go (cough) Rangers!

(wrongly posted earlier in the minor league thread)

Didn't the Rangers have 30 like 10-15 years ago?

But yes, to whoever said 'go Padres', I agree. I'm pulling for a Pads-Rays World Series if we just don't make it this year cuz **** the Dodgers, A's and Yankees.

Wait, so we had a game postponed and moved to Anaheim for a hurricane that didn’t even hit Houston, the day before the hurricane was supposed to even make landfall, but the league is making teams play in California right now?

Why didn’t they move this LA series to Houston days ago? Hell, why didn’t they move at least the latter part of that Oakland series to Houston?

Boston Red Sox hammered by puzzling all-lefty Rays lineup

Boston Red Sox manager Ron Roenicke couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the lineup card that the Tampa Bay Rays submitted for Friday night’s game. Every hitter in the lineup was left-handed.

According to MassLive, the manager was astonished to see this unique lineup being used against him. It’s one thing to stack your lineup against a certain type of pitcher but this took it to the extreme.

Never. That’s how often it had happened prior to last night. The Rays are the first major league team in the modern era (since at least 1901) to start a lineup featuring all lefties. Even their starting pitcher, former Cy Young award winner Blake Snell, is a southpaw.

I love teams that are not afraid to try new things. This is great. I love it!

Most teams couldn't do this even if they wanted to.

I'd say its more quirky vs. innovative.
