Sad they rarely get tv time even though they are the top team in the league. Espn, Comcast.etc etc wont even discuss how tony parker is leading a team of euro players and without Duncan and manu and still winning games. Even the NBA shuns them and dont even consider parker in mvp discussion dispite what he's doing. Instead i am stuck watching miami, okc and clippers every national tv broadcast. Smh
Pop doesn't care about anything but championships. The spurs respect comes from rings and nothing else matters.
San Antonio is a small market. NBA only cares about big market. Media cares about flashy players, Nobody on San Antonio is flashy. Closest thing would be Cap'n Jack
Spurs have long been "disrepected" by the NBA, but it's understandable since all the NBA is concerned about is marketing and TV revenue. Fortunately for the Spurs, they don't care and are only concerned about winning and championships. A perfect match.
ESPN Weekly Game Lineup Monday: Clippers vs. Heat Lakers vs. Celtics Thunder vs. Bulls Mavericks vs. Nets Rest of the week: Repeat Monday, but replace Mavericks with T-Wolves so we don't look too mainstream.
Non-flashy team who gets the job done. Don't get the national attention but at least their fans can still watch the games.
Spurs dissed since their first NBA Title in lockout shortened season of 1999. I really disliked them up till now but I have the respect for what they have accomplished for the past decade. Substance over flash. True winners.
i don't understand how the current spurs are boring. early 2000s spurs? yeah for sure. current spurs are so good to watch.
Spurs fans are never happy. And when they win against the Rockets they always seem to find a way to be as obnoxious as anyone can possibly be.
If they want attention, they need players like howard, j smoove, d will, cp3, kobe, harden (wont happen), etc.
I think the second statement is more true than the first. OKC is getting plenty of media attention right now. Lebron's Cavs got plenty of media attention as well. While the media does give attention to the bigger markets, if the smaller markets have the right players, they'll get attention.
And Manu is one of the most creative players offensively ever. Yeah he flops, but he makes such sick plays. I dunno, I find their offense really fun to watch. Yeah, you don't get ridiculous flashy dunks or ISO fadeaways but it's still so much fun to see the ball move around and the defense look helpless.
