but you are purposefully putting your head in the sand when it comes to situations where DW has clearly shown he is a leader, multiple times over. You know how hard I have to look to find such a situation?? One week prior, where Watson did the same thing (brought his team back from a large deficit) that you are praising Mahomes for doing. I can also go back to college where DW obviously led his team effectively.

At the same time you're almost completely ignoring the coaching differences.

Guess what... EVERY player had a hand in the collapse. The players are, after all, the ones actually playing. If DW made zero bad plays, if he was perfect on every pre-snap and post-snap read, etc, then he'd be the best QB of all time, way better than even Brady. He's not. Neither is Mahomes. Brady isn't even that - sure, he's older this year, but he was old af last year, too, and nonetheless was more than capable offensively. I guess when you lose top skill position players and offensive talent, not even the best coaching in the world will elevate you more than a certain level.

Fact is, there is one thing that is, BY FAR, holding the Texans back. And that's coaching. That doesn't mean every possible new staff would come in and do better. But it does mean if this coaching staff - universally recognized as bottom tier if not bottom 5 at this point - was replaced by a top tier staff, they'd have a much much higher chance of going further in the playoffs and having a better offense.

Absent his time in New England, Obrien's offenses have never been higher than 13th in yards. That was this year, when he went "all-in" on offense. Never been higher than 11th on points. Andy Reid has had offenses higher than 13th in yards eleven years. He's had offenses higher than 11th in points in thirteen seasons. He's a solid solid offensive coach. Not every year has his teams been top 10, but even his early years in KC, when his teams were in the 20's on yardage, they were generally still top 10 in points. Obrien, on the other hand, is an offensive coach, and in 6 years as a HC has yet to have a team crack the top 10 in yardage or points. Heck, his defenses have generally been better than his offenses over his tenure in Houston, and that's the part of the game where he's had less input.

    Nice post

He didn't in the biggeest game of the yr on Sunday.

He got lucky against the Bills, that's no way to win consistently. This isn't absolving BOB, he's every bit as much of the problem as Watson is. (Maybe even more) It's my opinion it doesn't matter who the HC is, the Texans wont have parades with Watson at QB. Mahomes has had better coaching, but he's so much more naturally talented and a much better leader. Exhibit A on last Sunday.

Listen to what everyone that has ever been around Deshaun Watson has said about his leadership ability. Dabo, JJ Watt, Hopkins, Honey Badger etc. They all rave about it. You've never even met Watson and all of a sudden you are an expert on his leadership ability? lmao, stfu

He's a top QB at times.

For the last month he hasn't been a top 20 QB. Some blame can go on BOB but not all of it.

Definitely saw the contrast. One team had an offensive gameplan that was well developed and executed, the other one didn't. One team had a defensive gameplan that was well developed and executed, the other one didn't.

One team was down 24-0 and their leader was over on the sidelines talking to everybody.

Suddenly it became 28-24 and the Texans were looking for leadership from their QB. If you couldn't see the difference I dont know what to tell you.

What was Deshaun supposed to do? Cover Kelce? The defense could not stop KC. No amount of leadership and overcome demoralizing drives given up by the defense. Offense wasn’t the one that needed to step up. If anything JJ being such a great leader should have rallied the defense.

Maybe hold the ball on a five to eight minute drive to shorten the game.

Score a TD a qtr in the last 3 qtrs.

    Things like that.

As much as I like Watson, he should not be angling for an extension this offseason.

Two good periods (out of 13) in three playoff games. That’s not a QB worthy of a massive deal.

If it were not for the Browns and the Lions, you could make the argument that the Texans are the most dysfunctional franchise in the NFL.

The Texans won’t have money for him. They won’t even have enough cap to resign all their own guys.

Mercilus got a big deal already. Watson will get a massive extension. We have to resign our corners or replace them. We have several starters on defense that are FA’s as well.

We will have cap room to sign at least one major FA.

Even if we resign Watson and Tunsil to big deals I think I’ve read somewhere that it won’t kick in till a year or 2 from now.

Not a cap expert but I think we have top 10 cap room money and we can free up even more.

Thats on the fking hc to actually design or call out plays. Our offense didnt suck because watson and co. didnt execute, it was bc we had no offense except rando sht call by the offense guru. Fake punt on our own side, BoB. Refusal to go for it one 4th and 1, BoB.

Cousins and Jimmy G received massive deals early. Jimmy G got over 100m and only started 6 games. Watson deserves his money.

We just need a better scheme that highlights the talent of the players we have and that will come with BOB giving up play calling duties to someone else who’s job would be on the line if the offense doesn’t perform. With the players we have this offense should be better than what it is PERIOD!
