Dusty Baker said the trainers told him McCullers was “going through a dead-arm period,” but he expects to start him early in the Oakland series after today’s abbreviated outing. McCullers said he’s not hurt and is going through a “weird period” coming off TJ surgery that’s not uncommon. “It’s apparently part of the process from the guys I’ve talked to.” The Astros are 3-for-24 with RISP. This is only the seventh time in franchise history they've had as many as 24 ABs with RISP (since it became a stat in 1974). The automatic runner at 2B to start an inning has helped them get there.

Hopefully he can fully heal. Honestly, his bat was very pedestrian, I think this was connected at least in part to his knee issue, although it's important to note his whiff % ticked up too (as it gradually has been over the past 5-6 years). I guess it's better to rest and let it heal than risk potentially worsening.

Gonna be a rough night for us if the zone is that wide. In the past I've actually found Knight to be one of the better umps, IMO.
At least in the end, it didn't matter because he didn't score. But that was a pretty big miss. Wondering why Mayfield wasn't yelling at the dugout?
