Hey squad, fam, bros, lovers, I have an issue. A month ago I switched out my 73 inch DLP for my newish 60 inch led Vizio. I have a dark living room cus I like to watch movies and what not and the DLP was great in the dark. My issue is I feel like what I gained in quality I lost more in visibility? Like it looks really dark in the dark? I'm about to let the 73 make a comeback if I can't figure this out? Is there a different kind of tv I should have got? Is it something with my settings? I don't know much about tvs but any help would be shmexy

I usually read the reviews on bestbuy and find the best settings from another buyer. It worked well with my LG LED

does it have one of those smart lighting settings? My Samsung has an energy star version of the lighting....and it adjusts to how bright the room is. I turned that **** off.

You should return your Samsung, the CIA is using it to watch you.

    Sounds like a settings issue.

That said, can't fathom why you'd go from 73 inch to 60 inches. Well, I mean i can... it's probably an old DLP that takes up a bunch of room, yada, yada. But it must seem so small to you!

Try avsforums for settings on your model. It sounds like you need a time machine and the strength to carry an 80lb plasma TV. Bright and vibrant with unobstructed viewing angles.

A niche company should revive that tech and improve on it. Make it lighter, cooler and more power efficient, and all around better. They wouldn't win over the masses, but they would have a customer base.

Trying to hold on to my plasma until an OLED upgrade is affordable enough. Black levels, increased brightness at edges or zones etc don't bother me most of the time, but when it's dark that stuff can be annoying.

Hope you kept your DLP. Would be a 2x burn to decrease size and quality. As said try the settings.
Maybe a backlight, totally occluded by the panel.

I use a Projector now. I get anywhere from 75-100" (75" in my current apartment living room) in 1080P quality. Granted it's not as crisp as an LED TV, but to be honest, to have such a large screen (basically my entire viewing parameter) in HD quality is amazing. I don't have a screen yet, just using the bare wall, so I assume once I get a screen the quality will only go up!

But yes, probably check your TV settings for brightness.

you still have a DLP that's insane . I was lucky to sell my old 3LCD (Sony) back in the day.
TVs are dirt cheap. Doesn't the DLP eat up too much space?

I'm in a similar boat. I used to use my LG LED projector for everything, I have since relegated it to the man cave (den)....and have a regular LED tv in the living room now.

I actually love my Mitsubishi. My GF doesn't live with me but if she did she would make me trash it for sure lol. I can't bring myself to get ride of it, got a new lamp for it off amazon about a year ago. Moved it into the study and cranked the old sound system on some Dredd the other night actually
