I've been dealing with this problem with Firefox for the past 2-3 weeks now. It takes 80-90% of my memory after I watch any kind of video, music, sound or anything of that sort. Even if I close that tab of the video, it just stays there.. and whenever I close the browser completely, it doesn't close... it's still running under the processes. SO, I have to open task manager every time to close it (and it's a pain in the ass because when it's using 90% of my memory.. it takes forever just to open the task manager and then to actually be able to click on the firefox process). I don't want to switch browsers because I like to keep my history (easier to go back to stuff, firefox users know what I'm talking about) and all my book marks and saved passwords are on here. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Anyone have any solutions to this problem? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Firefox has been running more poorly with every update. If Im watching any video for an extended period of time, i switch to IE. Im considering switching to Chrome.
Thing is.. everything like my history and stuff is on Firefox.. and it has been for the last 2 and a half years... I don't know if I want to switch browsers. I've used Chrome from time to time.. but it's not much better than Firefox.
There's not much you can do about that really. That's been the knock on firefox for a while now, but I still use it mostly because Google Chrome is pretty simplistic and Opera.... well no one uses or supports opera.
Yeap. Navigator Gold with Composer... awesome! Yes, I have those same issues at work, too. It's just reading the Yahoo! e-mail or watching YouTube that takes up hundreds of MB of RAM... I believe it's 3.x What's the exact version?
how many extensions do you have installed? the more you have the more it's going to bog firefox down. also, have you tried any of the tweaks you can find online?
I'm a Firefox user, but I would recommend Chrome for anything java intensive or video streams. It's engine is made to handle it (IE and FF are not... IE shouldn't even be mentioned), and despite Mozilla's claims, FF3 does not hang with it. I still love the addons Firefox has, and it's a much more solid browsing experience, imo.
I thought I was the only one with the problems of the not being able to have a full flash vid load. Firefox issue eh?
