So when are they going to acknowledge James Hardens performance against Portland in the MVP race? They say that Currys 51 point game MADE him the front runner. An efficient 45 points with 9 rebounds and 8 assists isn't something to ignore (regardless if the performance didn't result in a win) What are some other big games James has had this season? How many games has he utterly taken over for the win? What are games from Curry, Lebron, and other MVP candidates that we can compare them to?
This is exactly why this particular performance will get ignored. Wins are what matter in this league. I think he's put a good number of statlines like this in winning games to give him a good case for MVP though.
im starting to feel like no matter what harden does he will not be able to win it. if he is to have a chance he will need his teammates to step up and win a lot of games. harden is having a better season (to a somewhat small extent) but losing to the warriors 5 times and them having less losses. sucks to
4 times i meant. although if the rockets do end up losing 5 times to them this year that will be a very good thing. because it will mean they would end up going 4-5 overall and beating them in a playoff series
Their fast start made the Warriors the media darlings and the only thing preventing Curry from getting MVP is a late-season slump by the team. Meanwhile, Harden plays on the same team as media whipping boy Dwight Howard and gets no love. Here's what bugs me, though: Harden has absolutely carried his team while our other big-name superstar has been injured or less than 100% most of the year. Curry, meanwhile, has Thompson picking up the slack whenever Steph has an off-night. Nobody wants to talk about the fact that Curry might not even be the clear-cut most valuable player on his own team.
if you swap curry and harden i truly believe we are a .500 team and out of the playoffs. we would have lost by 20 tonight...
Nobody wants to talk about that because it's not true ... So if Curry's out, Thompson carries the Warriors like Harden is carrying the Rockets?
Sucks to see the average NBA fan think that Harden flops his way to 30 points, or in this case 45. They continue to call him a bad defender and all of that nonsense. I do appreciate the media calling Harden a co-MVP, as that is a lot better than being completely ignored. I just wish Harden can play at this level in the playoffs so the casual fan can actually learn something instead of paying attention to box scores and popular opinions.
Turn that statement around. If Thompson's out, Curry carries the Warriors like Harden is carrying the Rockets? I don't think so, but who knows.
From BSPN yesterday: The Warriors are ridiculously deep. Iggy, Draymond, Bogut, Lee, Speights, Barnes What's James got? Ariza, Dmo, Smith and Bev??? Harden is clearly MVP if you ask me. Nobody else is doing so much with so little help.
You think if Thompson and other significant warrior players went down with injury and Curry started averaging 28, and 8 assists while still keeping his team a float as a bare minimum would count against him?
If we don't have a top 3 record overall, it'll be very tough to give Harden the MVP. That's all there is to it, deserving or not.
If the Rockets keep a top 4 spot with Dwight missing so much time and Harden is keeping his averages, he will win the MVP. The only way Curry will get it is if the Warriors win 68+ games, not very likely. But even then, his case will not be as strong as Harden's since Curry's team is stacked, especially if the Rockets win 58. The fact that people are mentioning Thompson as a top 10 MVP candidate should automatically discredit Curry's resume for MVP. Not even mentioning the insane depth the Warriors have. I mean, they can bring Iggy, Lee and even Bogut off the bench at times.
