We also have Greinke who we have no idea if he can pitch again. We have to save Javier in case he has to start.
Correct...we knew what we have in the pen...it's not good. But you don't have to continue to inflict punishment on yourself from the same guy.
Who would you bring in? If Zack can't go next start you have to save Javier. The next player you'll probably see is Scrubb, and I don't hate the guy, but it's not like we have some studs out there.
Putting james back out there and then letting him stay in after immediately giving up 2 baserunners. Why?
Yes. Tomorrow. The big gaff was leaving james in, but now that thats done, if we lose today with Javier replacing Raley like you want, who starts tomorrow?
That's my thing. It's not as if the next guy would have just struck out the side. But with James history, we got lucky for even one decent inning out of him much less playing with fire and hoping for two.
What is easier to win without a bullpen: A game with a 3 run lead in the 7th or a 9-inning game tied?
Urquidy sh!tting the bed and only going 4 made this a difficult game. Taylor walking the 2 LHB turned the lineup over for James' 2nd inning. Had to get innings to hold a lead out of guys that you'd rather not use, and Baker stayed with James a batter too long. Then Raley's leadoff walk (ball 4 was a strike, but no excuse falling behind 3-0) and the bloop 2B pretty much ****ed the Stros for today, barring some serious late-game heroics.
