Our offense looks terrible, but if we can go back to 2017 and just use our starters we might have a chance. Not having Verlander sucks so much. With him I think we would have been AL favorites. It's great being the team all the other teams hate. It would be so awesome if Manfred has to hand the trophy to the Astros.
tbh no, but a deep run is a W to me considering the season and all the stros lost to this point. Eventually the pitching will regress to the natural mean and the better teams will take advantage. Unless the stros just going on an incredible run offensively with their core lineup and spotty pitching happens.
Whoa there fella. There are a lot of good teams in AL still. Luckily I think the best ones left are in the other bracket, Tampa and NYY. Plus it may be hard to hold the CWS to 1 run per game, and the A's have had the Astros number this year. But I would love to send Fiers home.
We do have to remember everyone's stats and records are skewed due to only playing intradivision games (seriously dumb idea). As good as some of the other divisions teams may look it may not correlate. Just look at what happened to the Twins.
I want Fiers vs the Astros in the playoffs! Mediocre starting pitching that the Astros have seen plenty of and the loss of their best/second best hitter (Chapman).
luck also plays a huge part as well. lets be honest the twins beat themselves in game 1. a routine out error cost them game 1 and the series. Love stros all day but my expectations are definitely adjusted to what this team is truly capable of. Knocking out the A's would be a great season to me haha. anything beyond that is gravy
Yes the error lost them the game in the 9th, but Astros could have easily stolen that game in extras without the error. Very true about luck, but teams have to capitalize on it. Twins had Greinke dead to rights in 1st inning, and couldn't knock him out.
yup. eventually that's not going to work in favor for the stros. that's just how things work unfortunately. We can enjoy shutting up a ton of people rooting against this team for the next few days.
Yes it is 2020 and the hated Astros after losing Verlander, Cole, Alvarez and Altuve forgetting how to hit needs to win it all just to finish this ****ed up year correctly.
If we put up 9 runs on him in the first inning, it still wont be enough to satisfy what I want to happen to that guy.
No, but if they do. The salt will be better than anything you can imagine. Imagine we win on a walk off (or well very late go ahead) vs Dodgers in game 7. The issues are we have basically 3 reliable bullpen arms. I know ERA wise that Scrubbs, Taylor, and Garcia have good ERA, their peripherals suggest they have been fairly lucky this season. Enoli, Pressly and Railey are the only pitchers that have a FIP of under 4 this year. Now could some of our other bullpen arms step up like how the Nats relievers overperformed in the WS vs us? Sure of course they can, especially since they are fairly young.
